dual-wielding / off-hand holster??? WTF??

How do I get dual wielding to work in Red Dead Online?

I got like a coupon thingy, so I can get one of the two cheapest off-hand holsters for free.
When I put it on it didn't change my weapon wheel at all.

Some people said it only unlocks at lvl.25, but I am already lvl.27 now...

So, what gives? Is there a special trick to make it work the first time?

You need to buy a holster (no matter which one, just grab one you need to pay for), if you try dual wielding with the free ones it will not work.

I am well aware of how it works and looks, I played story mode like a madman.

When I started playing online a few days ago I got this offer for a "free" off-hand holster, but the only 2 holsters the game lets you buy because of your low level cost $8.95, and that coupon only seems to work on those.

I bought them, added them to my outfits, and only one pistol at the top of the weapon wheel.
Then I heard it is unlocked at lvl.25, I'm lvl.27 now, and still no dual wield.

I had the same problem, got it fixed buying an holster without the coupon.

Yes, for sure.
Everyone starts with a Cattleman, I got the Volcanic pistol for free, the Scofield revolver for free, and I bought the Navy Colt.

So yeah, I'm loaded with handguns.

No idea why it doesn't work, and I guess the only way to a solution is playing around with that in game later.

Okay. First off, go into the wardrobe and make sure that your offhand holster is actually currently being worn (you can access the wardrobe either via your tent or via the outfitters in Blackwater or Saint Denis). Currently, I have my off-hand holster saved as part of my outfits. When I was just using the official outfits, I got inconsistent behavior as to whether the off-hand holster was worn or not. That may or may not be your problem, but either way, you should verify that the off-hand holster is definitely being worn as part of your current outfit.

Next, go to the gunsmith and choose to customize your weapons. This will give you a list of your weapons, allowing you to - surprise, surprise, customize them. What matters here though is that when you highlight a weapon on the left-hand side, the right hand-side will then give options to equip that weapon. For the sidearms, unless the gun is already equipped, you should have the option to equip it as your off-hand sidearm. Equip one of your sidearms as the off-hand weapon. Now, you _should_ have your off-hand weapon equipped, and you should be able to select it in the weapon wheel (once you're outside of any shops anyway).

If you definitely have your off-hand holster equipped, and you can't equip any sidearms as your off-hand weapon using either the weapon wheel or the blacksmith, then that's a bug. If you have the off-hand holster equipped, equip the off-hand weapon via the blacksmith, and you still don't have dual sidearms in your weapon wheel, then that's a bug. So, if either of those is the case, I'd suggest contacting Rockstar: https://support.rockstargames.com/categories

In my experience, dual-wielding mostly works but does have some bugs (like the issue with the off-hand holster sometimes disappearing from your outfit if you don't save it as part of your outfit). The most common one is that when you enter a free roam event, you never have your off-hand weapon. So, you may be hitting another bug related to dual-wielding, but hopefully between the wardrobe and the blacksmith, you'll be able to get your off-hand weapon equipped and in the weapon wheel.

Basically what I did just now, at my camp. Already had one off-hand holster, and it didn't get recognized. Bought the other one you can get at lvl.27, go to my horse, and it is fixed.

Dual-wield works now, I bet this was a bug with that coupon that gives you the 8 dollar holster for free.

I can confirmed this is true. Just find some small price and equip, then check it again with your horse. Its should work fine.

This is a gimmick that I received very early in the game.

I can't even remember how I got it, but I haven't even used it once.

I'd rather charge at somebody on foot and stab them in the neck with a knife than unload two barrels on their face.

all the dual wielding stuff on here and youtube are fake. i watched all the youtube videos and they are fake. dual wielding is not a feature in online. im over level 25 i bought multiple holsters that the videos said to by, i went step by step with all the videos and when i go to equip the weapons the weapons wheel has only the option for one pistol. i also purchased a bunch of extra pistols that the videos said to.

it will not let me equip the default holster and the level 25 holster at the same time. it only lets me equip one at a time.
im pretty sure the hackers have made this a feature only allowed to them.

You need to assign your second pistol as off-hand either at the gun store or your horse

so i bought what the youtube videos were calling 'off hand holster' , i believe its called the horsemanship holster? and all it did was replace my current holster and it wouldnt let me use both of them. also i tried setting it like you said at the gun store/horse and it did say "equip off hand" but it only let me select one at a time.
