You've got to know when to hold 'em
Know when to fold 'em
Know when to walk away
And know when to run
You never count your money
When you're sittin' at the table
There'll be time enough for countin'
When the dealin's done
Eh, single player doesn't really even matter, you're not even in the game... Get in the game.
I enjoyed the poem, but in Red Dead "know when to run" is the most applicable strategy. I do lots of folding. And the payoff for that is if I do get a decent hand on a blue moon, the NPCs know it and fold out as soon as I raise.
Same here. The story has sucked me in, but there are many annoyances as well.
You actually, just need to learn how to play poker and pay attention to the draw. if you have an "ok" hand, chances are somebody else has a very good hand.
Also pay attention to how people bet too. if you bet too high people will fold, the game goes against you. NPC's will put in suspiciously high bets every now and then. Watch out for those. They may also keep betting low, slowly chipping away at your, well, chips. Encouraging you to keep going, rather than folding.
There's one guy in there specifically... with the grey hat. He acts like a real bigshot whenever he raises. Talking about his deep pockets or whatever. I feel like he's cheating. I was so close to blowing him away with duel wield shotguns before I won that big hand. Lucky for him he lost.
Benny.
