Any chances for low end pc gamers?
Hey all sorry firstly for the question if it sounds ridiculous. But what is the chance for us low end pc gamers to run RDR 2? By the way my trusty machine is a lenovo laptop y60 so must be stone age machine by now. Thanks

I would suggest buying it at any point if there's a sale. Even if you can't play it right now, it is an amazing game, even if I have only played it on Xbox. If it's on sale, get it, then just keep it through the updates and play it when you get a better PC.
Yes you can play it fine at 30fps and medium-low-ish graphics at 1920x1080 and lower the resolution scale mode located in the advanced options. It runs well on my laptop with some settings on ultra, and most on medium and low. You'll want to use geforce experience first to optimize. If further optimization is needed you can do it through advanced options.

My laptop is probably faster, but they still have similar capabilities.

Good Luck!

Then it would be better to save the money to buy better rigs first rather than the game, the game will always have some sales.

And game will be cheaper if you buy it later also.
Is this your laptop?

If so, then it will run fine. A consistant 30fps easily (if you're ok with that).

If i am reading this right, your laptop is 5-6 years old (2014?) ? i don't see any reference to a "Y60", only Y50 and Y50-70. There's a T60, which is even older, so i'll just guess the Y50-70 is the one...

A "good" gaming laptop is about as "good" as a 1-2 year old enthusiast desktop. The components may look impressive, but the manufacturers do all sorts of things to keep the laptop cool (sure, it has a GeForce 2080, but it runs like a 1060) - and Intel Mobil CPUs are not the same when installed in a laptop.

So, 5-6 years old + 1-2 years lag, and your laptop is about as good as a 6-8 year old enthusiast PC. I have one of those in my office... It can't even run Skyrim on Ultra Textures.

The graphics demand for this game is well beyond Skyrim...

You could possibly "get it to run", but the textures and effects would be set to "Horrible" (which is lower than low), and your screen would most likely jitter and stagger constantly due to low FPS, and memory & hard drive bandwidth limitations.

I agree with others - skip it until you upgrade your computer. And go for a actual PC if you have the space and don't need a mobile platform - more performance for the same money.

It's the range from y50 to y70 (y60 is inbetween those).

Sounds like you have never owned a gaming laptop. The information you are supplying is terribly inaccurate and I respectfully disagree. I have my laptop running circles around most desktops. Yes it's true that the y60 is old, but it has the capabilities of running this game. Maybe not 60fps no, but 30fps is totally doable with respectable settings for sure.

I'm a Hardware Hero and I disagree. I have ran this game on top-tier pc, old pc, laptop, many different models and I was able to manage a good experience. The OP is better off listening to the PC Master-Race-Bro. I'm the Hardware Hero of Steam.

No i wouldnt buy it for a laptop. this is probably why so many people compain on the forums ago the game not working. meet the recommened specs not the minimum specs and 30 FPS doesnt mean the game will work properly

If this question caused any conflicts, I hope it won't be that way too long. I actually ended up buying the game, finished it & got addicted to it 🤣. I had to turn down some details, but It's still amazing with the close to realistic designs. Will replay it again in the future. Thanks all 👍😁

While I am too potato to talk specifics, I am running a 5yo top-end rig (complete with the pretty lights that make it go faster) with two 4GB GPUs and, look, it's managing pretty well with almost everything on high settings, buuuut ... I have to treat the game gingerly 'cuz she'll happily glitch or crash if I don't.
Not sure that directly helps, but just some more grist ...
