Personally I don't care about pre-load because I don't have enough space on my SSD for that, because you need double the size. So around 240GB or more is what you need for pre-load as during the unpacking process you will have the pre-load files plus the reserved space in the installation folder.
Is that a Steam feature or are you just clueless?
Because i only had 170 GB left on my SSD and was able to pre-load and decrypt the game just fine from Rockstars Launcher
That should be Steam feature then. I remember this from previous big releases where people ran into the issue of not having enough space left on their SSD to continue the unpacking process because it essentially takes up double the space during the unpacking process.
However I'm not sure if that is still the case or if by now Steam has improved this process somehow. But the way steam installations and unpacking works, I wouldn't be surprised if it's still like it was before, that you need double space.
Here that's a thread I found immediately about this issue during GTA V launch. Pre-load was only around 60 GB, but during unpacking it took around 120GB space.
