Robbed in Saint Denis

So some guy offered me a chance to get some quick money and then knocked me out in an alley..i lost 1500$
Seems I cant get that money back?

Whats extremely annoying is that i knew i will be robbed but i was sure I will get a chance to get the money back.so I went through with it just for fun..but no..i went back to that place and nothings there..

ouch thanks for the easter egg warning. theres a horse thief over at tall trees. wanted a picture taken on player characters horse, rides off with it, leaves you a donkey you cant ride. just whistle after a few min youll get your horse back, or shoot her before shes out of sight

Wait... Red dead online or singleplayer? I mean, npcs of singleplayer always come after for some piece of me and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ failed, even in the online when I help a mexican woman that wants me to ride her a thieves landing, I found her again but this time tried to rob me, I got so angered that I shoot her around 6 times and then her thugs started to show up, did nothing but fight.
My hands up, the lady appears north of Blackwater on west elizabeth in a empty place, complaining about a horse that dropped her, taking her to Thieves landing will make the guys analize you to rob you later, that's how it happen to me so... shot her when you hear "Agh, pinche caballo"

Same thing happened to me. Its different than other NPCs that try to rob you. Its almost like a cut scene where you cant control anything. They will take 50% of your money, and you can never find them again.

I had 5000$ and they took 1500 which i cant get back

Thats really bad. In all other events the game makes you know that you can get everything back..and then it just ♥♥♥♥♥ you here..annoying

You can actually get the money back, they can be found at random locations in saint denis, I found them near chinatown.
