- daily challenges for gold
- each roles missions - trader, bounty hunter, collector, moonshiner
- random free roam events like fishing, train defense, and searching for an egg I never find
- use 'join posse' on the menu to mess around with other people
- raised all my stats (health, stamina, deadeye), fishing took a while to get health maxxed
- some pvp, like 10 games, I just don't find it that fun
- explored, cleared hideouts and defended travelers
- drank lots of beer
Treasure maps are good for gold, you get one every 5 levels and they sometimes spawn on trees at night. Look for trees that have a lantern on them.
Some NPC's also drop treasure maps.
Stranger missions and story missions also generate gold.
A week and a half ago I had earned enough gold to buy the Outlaws Pass, got my 40 gold back through it spent that on a few things and now Im back upto almost 52 gold.
If random events arent spawning generally you will find few animals spawned as well. This usually means the lobby has too many people in it. Although the past few days random events seem to be happening again so maybe they are working on that on the fly without patching.
A lobby can hold 22 people max. You can see this by loong at the people in the lobby its at the bottrom.
Once it starts getting above 15 is when spawns start slowing down. So you can either stay in that lobby or move to another lobby. However currently with the infinite load screens its quicker to exit the game and restart.
There are some rare scenarios where you can do a bounty or moonshine mission which generates a solo instance for that mission and when you finish you are sometimes left in that solo instance. If so dont fast travel or the lobby will fill up. Can usually keep a solo instance going for a good while until it starts to populate again. If you are lucky enough. Turning off social matchmaking also helps there.
Alot of folks are either doing solo lobbies or just arent playing due to all the hackers atm
There are ways to create solo lobbies as well. Look on youtube.
Yes unfortunately online is quite dull compared to Story mode even after a whole year, legendary bounties are nice but there's a pathetic 40-45 minutes cooldown like on everything else... it's Rockstar so... online the world is empty.
And with all the game breaking bugs and glitches (due to them being stubborn and forcing full sessions mostly which no one knows why) I gave up on online mode and went back to story mode, more animals, more activities, more NPCs, more random events, more interaction.
Also 24 players per instance are great considering *the game is peer-to-peer* - like Warframe, which cannot hold more than 4 players at once.
To be fair, anything you can do on the story mode serves no purpose - They tried to make Red dead 2 into two games so it does not do either of them very well which is sad so i prefer Online and its always packed when im on it,
RDO still has some of the same problems though. Moonshiner and Trader Roles are just more GTAO style Business Cons, that sure can make you money but they exist to 'tie' your hands to a grind system of repetitivity. I made over 1000 Dollars in game yesterday without owning any of the business, when compared to the prices of content in game, "Roles" are overrated outside of XP gain doing their side missions.
Basically, they convince you to spend precious Gold to give you access to missions/jobs that give you a modest boost in hourly income, but you're still paying 'upfront' a hefty amount to activate said opportunity to own said role (Business). Which is identical to what they did in GTA Online. Oh, and all these "Roles" (Business) do not give you a passive income, they eat up your time, with the promise of giving you more earnings in the long run. Even the Nightclub on GTA Online in particular promised users a 'passive income' yet still required you to do popularity boosting side missions to get that income, and the illegal aspect that netted you the most money earned you less money per hour than if you just did contact missions making the Nightclub a huge investment in which I doubt most people who bought it got their investment back, I know I didn't.
Moonshiner people are already mad that it's a stupid investment for the user in game with little reward for doing so. Like all business in GTA Online the hourly income wasn't worth the effort of owning them honestly. You could still make more money doing Heist missions, and despite Rockstar's constant nerfing of income from Contact missions, Contact missions were still more profitable than any 'single' standalone business. The only way for Business to be better in GTA Online is if you owned a lot of them. But then you run into the problem of being handcuffed to them, constantly either buying supplies, or doing supply missions, babysitting, watching the clock so you know when to go back into Free Roam and repeating that process. It became such a chore that it ruined my GTA Online experience.
I'd highly recommend people to avoid most of the "Roles" if they can. You're paying Gold for the privilege to do exclusive missions, and that is basically it. Even the Trader is still mostly mission based. Rockstar needs to stop making stuff like this and the only way to stop it would be to avoid using it. =P
it's teh exact SAME hack.
and there are just as many hackers.
im affected by cheaters every damn day on this game.
and i was actually doing a search for "is there anything being done about the cheaters"
this was the first result.
at least in GTA i could still access the menu to switch severs asap WHENEVER I WANT.
in RDR2O the menu is locked behind the respawn timer, and cheaters just instakill you before you can make two clicks to switch server.
and it also appears that if i've been targeted by any kind of hacker hijink, it makes me unable to transfer server anyway!
it either hangs before disconnect or hangs before connecting to next...
i can switch whenever i havnt been affected by the hacker.
IE: "mass teleport everyone to same spot, mass intsakill everybody and their horse" etc etc
