Not at all actually you get them trough lvling up your role and finishing each step in 5 lvls from 20 you can unlock everything from that 5lvl category i have literately 75left from only unlocking what i want and need. All 4 roles max to lvl 20 so...

ESC - Progress (fourth one from above not sure if its called that its a direct translation) - and Roles.

You can either apply them to stuff for the role through the menu by pressing ESC when online and going to progress -> roles -> the specific role (the items to unlock are on the bottom half) - or, when you buy the specific item (be it from the catalog, Madam Nazar, stable, or wherever the item in question is sold), you will just use the tokens as part of paying the price for the item. If you had already unlocked the item in question through the menu, then the tokens will no longer be part of the price.
