Why is it so easy to lose honor?

Seriously? Like, cmon, self defense should not cost you honor... I mean cmon!
I know what you're thinking.. "Well the dude who attacked me had a good reason." or some other bs logic that doesn't make sense.. and to that my answer is no.

I was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hunting, while slowly getting closer to my target with the scope zoom in, not even seeing that there was a dude behind me, I shot my target (the animal, duh) and the dude behind me. "What's this? You trying to kill me?"
Bruh if I was trying to kill that dudes ass, I must be the worst killer ever since my shot literally the opposite of his direction!
Oh so you wanna use self defense? too bad you cant use guns, gotta use lasso and hogtie the ♥♥♥♥♥♥! Oh, so you thought it would the that easy? Just hogtie the dude and leave asap?
Would be a shame if 2 other dudes rode by right at the time you're hogtying the first guy, pumping you full of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bullets!

2 kills... and an accidental horse kill... I lost an entire lever of honor... GENIUS! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ flawless design... if you gonna make people lose 20 or something honor per kill... then let there be an easier way to get 20 or more honor back rather than greeting everyone or hoping to god you'll get a few random encounters... Or, or... allow us to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ self defend when they start shooting you for no reason!

I could have, and I tried, but for some reason that dude was persistent and would stop following me, and the animal I was hunting is one of the skins I needed for crafting.
So I tried to ride off... But the lil ♥♥♥♥♥♥ wouldn't let me, so I tried to hogtie him to shut him off so I could skin it...

And I've had moments where I rode too far and the carcas despawned so I didnt wanna risk it

I got "wanted for disturbing peace" or something like that for saying hi to a cat... I rode into Saint Denise once, and suddenly all the npcs turned hostile to me, and began attacking me with their fists, even the cops. I rode out of town, came back, and everything was fine. The ai in the game isn't very advanced. It seems like everything to nothing provokes them.

Killed only 2, the 3rd dude was still tied up, the horse kill was accidental, when I was in dead eye, I was aiming for the dudes hands to disarm them, but while i was doing that on the second dude, his horse moved in such a way that it blocked the shot with it's head.

Like I said it was self defense but I just didn't have the time or the willpower to hogtie 2 more people... and I needed the damn pelt.

I've had a similar kind of thing but it was like this, I was riding through valentine to go to store and restock, the damn dog run into my horse, like, it looked like it tried to go underneath it? From the side? I wasn't even galloping, It was slightly faster trot... and basically, the dog run under my horse and all of a sudden "animal cruelty"

Bruh it's not my fault that dog had a death wish -.-
The dog didn't die if you're curious, and no, I don't go around and hit dogs/cats

When dudes try to shoot you, just shoot their guns off. Works every time and if you knock them out in self-defence you don't lose honor.
But yes, crime and honor systems are both illogical half the time.

If people attack you first, without a legitimate reason, you can kill them without losing honor, e.g. bandits that attack you.

However if you trampel someone with your horse and they attack you, it's self defense from their side.
