Any chance we'll see support for this game? I mean vulkan is fine but supposedly directx12 gets better performance.

Upgrade to windows 10 is not free thats false information that expired a year or two ago the free upgrade for windows 7.

He/She will have to buy the OS now i recommand amazon where i bought my windows 10 disc from I upgraded to windows 10 around mid to late 2019 to be ready for Cyberpunk 2077 witch most likely be directx 12.

I still got my windows 7 ultimate disc and stuff i wantted to keep it and didn't want microsoft to mess with the activation of it so desided When windows 10 came out id just buy the os when time came. =P

Wasnt that expensive ether was like 105 dollars or 95 dollars from amazon and free shipping when i bought it but a friend she said microsoft tryed charging her 200 dollars for the OS to upgrade her windows 7 to 10 yesterday im like rip off! =P

Whether DirectX 12 gets you better performance depends on your settings and system. On my machine, when I tried it, I saw a drop from close to 60 fps down to 30 fps. So, it's not necessarily the case that DirectX 12 is more performant.

Either way, you're stuck using Vulkan for Windows 7. Windows 7 hits end of life on the 14th of this month, at which point, Microsoft will no longer be supporting Windows 7 (save for some exceptions where companies shell out money for additional support). So, there's no way that they're going to add add DirectX 12 support to Windows 7, which is what you'd need to play RDR2 with DirectX 12 on Windows 7. And since Microsoft wants everyone to move to Windows 10, it's highly unlikely that they'll add it to Windows 8 either. If you want DirectX 12, you need to move to Windows 10, which for better or worse, is probably what you should be doing anyway, since Windows 7 will now increasingly become a security problem, since Microsoft won't be providing security updates any longer, as annoying as that may be.

Microsoft ends the Support for Windows 7 January 14. So its very unlikely that it will get mentionable Updates

Then you wasted your money because you could have installed windows 10 and activated it with your windows 7 product key. Unless you don't have one. It works with windows 8 product key too. Microsoft wants you to use windows 10. The only way it's not free is when your windows 7 or 8 isn't legit. Then you would have to buy it. You would also have to buy it if upgrading from windows vista.
It's free. It always has been. It always will be. To the legit.

You are wrong about it not being free. I just helped a buddy get his win 7 upgraded for free and he didn't even know his original reg key. (you need a program if you don't have a reg key but I can help with that too)

Anyways, the microsoft app store has an upgrade tool that works just fine, but you will need a reg key for your copy of win 7. They moved it from accesability upgrade on their website to the app store as part of a windows tools app, I am assuming to get more people on board with windows "apps" since they are still doing this for free.

Like I said, I just did this for a friend's computer 2 days ago and it worked just fine and is 100% legit.

Microsoft said that offer would expire but it still works perfectly. Like the person above said they upgraded a friend to 10 using a 7 key 2 days ago. My cousin upgraded from 7 to 10 using his 7 product key a few months ago. Activated perfectly fine. I think Microsoft dose not care as it gets more people on 10 and they make a TINY amount of money from people actually buying standalone copies of Windows or just the product keys. That is a tiny market, it's the OEM's buying Windows liscenses where they make their money on Windows from the consumer market.

If you still have valid Windows vista to Windows 8.1 key, upgrading will give you the full windows 10 home version.

Dont know what they talking about. Microsoft recently gives Windows 10 Upgrade free away. DirectX12 is only supported by Windows 10 and support for Windows 7 is shutdown. If you want to be up to date you must use windows 10
