Horse satchel looting??

Alright, I'm having some major issues when it comes looting the damn horses!
I know you're supposed to look at their ears and that will tell you if the horse is spooked and will kick you or not... however, I feel like the ear thing is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥...

There has been numerous times the ears all pointing forward or upward whatever you wanna call it, and the horse still ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ kicks me. I've tried every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thing and some horses are just impossible to loot no matter ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ what and it's starting to get annoying as ♥♥♥♥!

First of all, the horse is not spooked or been close to gunfire at all, I even made sure to come up and pet it... just cause. Ears are in the right position, soon as I go loot the horse, bam... kicked... all of a sudden spooked for no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reason whatsoever? What the ♥♥♥♥ did I do wrong?
It's ears were in non hostile position, it haven't been close to gunfire or any other danger, I made sure to even pat..

Either the ear thing is fake... or my game is broke and shows wrong horse attitude/ear placement whatever you wanna call it. I've had the same horse kick me 3 times, every time I made sure to calm it and wait a few seconds just to check if the ears would change position... I was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ patient with the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ and waiting extra long... before I finally just shoot its brain out.
How do you make 100% sure you can loot the horse without getting kicked, I don't feel like losing honor every time I wanna loot a horse -.-

I think it depends on the constitution of the horse. If it is scary and you can't calm it, you probably get kicked in the ass! Kill the horse to get the loot isn't worth it. Besides i like and respect all animals. Even virtual.

In single player, I'll usually just try to loot a horse, and if it kicks me, I kill it, at which point I can at least loot one of its two sides without being worried about getting kicked again. I've found that a single kick doesn't kill me, so I can afford to risk it, but it may depend on how much XP your health has.

For multiplayer, it seems like for some reason, horses are only ever lootable when they're alive and standing - and even then, they usually don't have anything that can be looted. So, I'm rarely able to loot anything from horses online, and killing them for kicking you is just satisfying, not productive. However, I don't know if the inability loot horses online is a bug or by design.

Dont kill horses If you kill the Lawman/bounthunter his horse has gold nuggets, always friend the hose to get the gold. Edit, Single player only Sorry.

in online mode?

can you loot saddle bags in online just not dead horses like the single player campaign?

never really kept trying "or know how 2" but as far as i know you can't loot horses online at all.

i have looted some satchel online
