Dealing With Ambushes

I've been ambushed twice, died both times. When it comes to fighting on a horse I might as well point my gun at myself because I never hit ♥♥♥♥. Best I can do is wave the aimbot mode thing around and blast a horse's head off or two. Is there a method to the madness? Or do I just suck.

Getting randomly murdered is killing my RP boner.

Horseback fighting is easiest if you are on a road, go into cinematic mode by holding V, now your horse will auto drive and you can hold aim and have a much easier time. you can slow and speed up as normal while aiming too.

Most ambushes happen on the main paths. Don't take the main roads, take short cuts thru the trees.

Keep weapon equipped, make sure dead eye isn't drained.

1) Dead Eye
2) Get off your horse and find cover
3) Shoot their horses so they fall off
4) Draw them into town
5) Run and separate them, take them one at a time.

if youre ambushed then you usually have enough time to prepare yourself before they start shooting at you. you can drink something to fill your dead eye and use the quick draw mechanic to paint them all and headshot the second you pull your gun out

What rich mahogany said. Just work exclusively on getting your deadeye up and keep it full all the time. Once I did that the game is much more enjoyable and kind of a joke in terms of difficulty.

I'd be a dck and say get good, but then I realize how I also have a hard time shooting on this game with mouse + keyboard after playing it on console for so long.

I find that I typically only use Deadeye when I'm doing mounted fighting. The cover system on foot is really good and fun to play with.
