As with the revolvers, the damage of the semi-auto pistols isn't all that high. Not going for headshots doesn't seem worth it. Unless you want to dual wield and just overwhelm your enemies with bullets. Using dual wield does increase the reload time since you have to reload 2 weapons. in that case relaod time should be your number one priority. you could make the argument that it's worth to use 1 revolver in combination with 1 pistol in order to conserve ammunition. using 2 of the same type will drain your ammo extremely fast.
If you play the game like I do, meaning if you try going for headshots, then the damage of the weapon doesn't matter because headshots instantly kill your opponent no matter which weapon you use. I used both the volcanic pistol and the mauser for quite some time purely because I like the style of the guns.
I have to say that the pistols and revolvers are rather lackluster. in medium-range scenarios the repeater is king. once you get too close, the shotguns easily beat the pistols/revolvers.
in long range encouters, the snipers and rifles are way better.
so in terms of actual usefullness, I wouldn't use any of the pistols/revolvers as primary weapons but as a sidearm in case you happen to find yourself in a situation in which you don't have time to reload your primary weapon. in that case, it shouldn't make all that much of a difference which one you use.
