How / where can I store legendary pelts?

I have some perfect pelts on the back of my horse,
And can take them, or pass them to Pearson.
I had them before but lost them in a accident.
Now i want to secure them before i have enough to use them for upgrades.
How can i do that

In single player, pelts can't be stored anywhere other than on your horse. Other than that, you have to sell them to a butcher (if he'll take them in single player; that might only be online), donate them to Pearson to be used to upgrade the camp, sell them to the trapper, or throw them away.

For legendary pelts, you're supposed to sell them to the trapper. He then uses them to create clothes that you can buy from him. If you lose any legendary pelts, he gets them somehow, so you can still buy the clothes from him, but because he got the pelts on his own, you don't get any money, just the option to buy the outfit.

You trade them to the Trapper and with him he’ll make you clothing and stuff. (Story Mode)
