Female Options in this game are Trash
Female characters in Red Dead Online feel like a last minute decision, just barely crammed in right before release. Online has been out for over a YEAR now, so there are no excuses anymore.

The crunch must have been insane if they had no time for female specific animations. I could overlook that if we were talking about an early access indie title, but this game had a budget bigger than some countries. At least 8 out of 10 clothing items available for the player are explicitly male designs, and my character looks more like a long-haired boy in most of them.

I would pay real money for some big, FAT bustle dresses, like the one at the tailor's window in Saint Denis. Unfortunately that one is basically untextured, as if the prop artist said "f*ck it, this is too much work". If I had a dress like that, I could see myself yelling "HAY-YELP!" as I'm hogtied and tossed on horseback, instead of cursing like a sailor.

While I'm at it, why is there no option to ride sidesaddle? Female NPCs already do it when you escort them, so clearly there's at least one person on the animation team who's aware it's an actual thing. Such a simple addition, but would make a world of difference.

But why would Rockstar care? The game has already made a trillion. Guess I'll just try to ignore that my girl runs like Arthur. Nope. Still ruins my immersion.

For reference, Belle Starr was a real female outlaw know for rocking a big bustle dress, and riding sidesaddle: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belle_Starr

It's totally "lore friendly".

I couldn't disagree more with your post.

I feel the tom boy looks and styles more fitting for our character and what where doing where basicly doing mens work so seems fitting where dressing more like men then dressing more Feminine.
I think the fashions really well designed cause even tho they have the tom boy look they have a elegant and light Feminine touches to the fashion.

But they also do have dresses and other tradional fashions for us to chose from but i dont like dresses.

As for side saddle thank gosh they don't have that id be offended!! I like the way we ride the horses now and love how they implimented Female character in game it feels more natural and fitting for the game and our action's and how our character would be like in such an era us being more Tom Boy like and not Lady like to be taken more seriusely amoung the men in that era not the typical woman of that era.

That said I personally like the fashion selection they have and i love the modest clothing and really happy with it and glad its not typical over the top flashy sexist crap so common now in games for women characters.
Some of us perfer to dress modest thank you very much and also love the style of modest clothing and makes us feel more comfurtable.

It was the same thing for GTAO.
Its a game made by neckbeards for neckbeards
Well, most of the female fashions in the game do look a bit overly tomboyish and rugged. I don't really mind it much since it is a wild west style game and I'd rather fit in with the boys and not cause too much of a distraction but I don't suppose a few more dresses would hurt. I not advocating for our clothes to be overly sexy or anything but it wouldn't hurt if some were a bit more girly. I not worried though, I think the game is early in development and I looking forward to seeing more variety in coming updates. In a way I guess its a good thing though because I stay so poor having already bought all of the fashions as it is, and my friends laugh at me because I still haven't upgraded from the starter guns or anything else. What can I say, fashion is a priority *laughs*

Decisions like this aren't made by accident. I think if you found the data between female gamers and microtransaction purchases, you'd find it's less than men. Yes, girls like to purchase fashion accessories but gambling and gambling addiction rates are double amongst men, and I think microtransactions fall into the latter category.

Judging by its quality the whole Online is one big accident.

I've purchased the game as an early access, with hope to see actually developed game 2-3 years later. Maybe they'll create better characters.

Although I'm fine with the animations. Much better than in the recent Ghost Recon Breakpoint, for example.

The PC port was more of a money grab than an accident I think. Hopefully they'll fix it eventually, so we can have a functional game and they can get their bottom line back.

I've only really delved into single player so far, but I like the animations. In RDR1 there weren't animations for skinning, but mini cut scenes that faded to black and ruined immersion/pacing completely. This is in the same spirit, but better executed. I've never felt as involved in a character's actions before.

I just want some civilian outfits you see npcs wear in saint denise for woman.

How would you run with spurs on your yee-haw boots.

You'd probably run like Arthur Morgan
Sid Jan 1, 2020 @ 3:47am
The female outfits are a seperate model from the male one. The reason there are no dresses is because there's less incentive in making a model from scratch that is going to be ( theorically ) only used by the other half of the players, compared to unisex clothing.

I too would prefer not having my character run like an animal, but that's just the way they decided to go with this animation, it doesn't look gendered, just silly at best.

I don't see what you mean by "Female" animations, could you clarify ?

As for the sidesaddle animation, it's most likely due to avoid issues with the on-horse blendspace, although there's not much reason to have the sidesaddle animation Female only considering there's no actual dresses.

Having female-oriented clothing isn't an outlandish idea.

like skirts while running around around and riding horses? No thanks.

I would love more dresses! Maybe better colors and patterns to for some outfits already made. Hard to match up anything that looks good with the selections we have. Some pieces are blurry to, one of the skirts look like they smeared the fabric colors. Also would be cute to have the side saddle sit. Maybe an option for later we can choose like we choose walking styles.
