Online down due to large scale DDOS attacks on US/UK core service providers.

Well, that certainly explains a lot of things. Our friends the Russians again? Or maybe the Chinese or North Koreans? My money is on the Russians ... whenever I get griefed these days its a Russian spam-chatting followed by abuse of the environment.

Good. This is the stuff that needs to happen for Rockstar to amp up their fixes.

The problem with DDOS is machines worldwide are infected without knowing, then are exploited to add to the maximum bandwidth. It's very difficult to ascribe these to any given source unless you can trace back the malicious code or get lucky and intercept an operator commanding the botnet.

Heck, many if not most of the major attacks on gaming servers have originated from US based groups. F:steamsalty:king sad but true.

another bad 1st impression on this port - 6 hours trying to get it to be at all playable (it's still not playable - it's absolute torture - laggy audio and graphics even when set at low) - and now cannot try online either

Blizzard DDOSer got arrested just months ago. Am sure the fat kid was surprised when the authorities came knocking, LOL

They must have banned a Chinese hacker.

My experience of this started about six hours back and consisted of my game repeatedly locking up followed by my losing a whole days hunting - skins- when it crashed due to a server issue. Why Rockstar don't consider skins as 'cargo' on the horse is beyond me. Nine hours gameplay, all that stuff collected and destroyed because of a denial of service.

WHY are skins and pelts not considered part of the saddlebag cargo? I mean, all they have to do is call it 'rump cargo' or something and it could be on the gorram horse even if you log out and back in again or have a server kick!

CIA or Mossad

Outage consistent with incoming attack patterns here.

Plus side spent the better part of the day drinking beer and leveling up trader from the "Chicken Railroad" camp next to Wallace and Flatneck. If you get the small camp by the bridge you can just run the deliveries straight down the rail lines to either, aside from getting an initial delivery to quakers or thieves.

This is my biggest pet peeve with online. Pelts and carcasses should stay on your horse until you choose to remove them, donate them, or sell them. Having them fall off if your horse falls makes some sense, because at least it's a gameplay element, but losing pelts because you quit, were kicked out of the game, or did something else that switched servers? That's just plain stupid. And of course, the fact that we randomly get kicked out of the game makes it that much worse.

Yeah this is a problem. Being kicked and losing all those pelts is an actual waste of time caused by the game itself, not by players.
