Game is broke - can't get on horse, open any menu, load new textures or even die. Help?

I don't know what I was doing but I have broke the hell out of this game.

I tried skinning a deer and my guy just stood over it looking at it and eventually let me move him again and never skinned the deer. So I tried getting back on my horse and does the same thing just stares at it. So I decided to run to the town I was close to and get about 50 yards from where I am and the game just stops loading textures.

Close the game and reload and now im stuck in this little area of where I cant get on my horse, pull out a weapon, pull up a menu or kill myself. Tried drowning my guy, and jumping off a near by cliff and he just falls to his death and grunts for ever and wont stand up or take me to a wasted screen.

Really don't want to start over...this just might kill my desire to play this game. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this or if there is a way to load a previous save? Best I can tell there is not a way but maybe I am just missing it.

Its for Single player, and it did work. I really should have tried that. It's the first thing I tell others who have problems. I have just heard of all the pc problems this game has had and instantly went to being Rockstars fault.

I have this problem too. It happens randomly, then the only thing to do is to restart the game...
Any solution yet?

I can play for hours without issue and sometimes it happens all the time.

Currently verifying. Hope it fixes it. Played the game once without any issues, now on the second playthrough (naturally, after they patched the ♥♥♥♥ out of this game) this happens for some reason.
During single player gameplay at one point my character can't do any simple tasks like point a gun, switch a gun, reload a gun. Then all of the NPCs just stand there, doing nothing. Then once I try to open the menu, it just frezzes into black and white without any options loading.
It is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying. This game made me finally quit PC gaming.
I'm thinking of no longer buying any game on Steam because of this.

I have the same problem. I have to restart the game a couple times to make it work. Unfortunately it happens every playthrough without fail now, and it feels so bad to be genuinely enjoying the world and story of this game only to pull up to the menu or get into town and realize that nothing is working, and that you can't even save. I pull up the pause menu every so often to make sure that everything's working alright, but when you get that black and white screen and no red, damn does that make my heart sink every single time.

It doesn't just make me want to quit the session, it makes me seriously consider not playing the game at all or using a "non-standard" means of playing the game because besides this, the launcher is so buggy. I'm oddly happy that I've finally found someone who shares my exact same problem because I've been googling for hours trying to find a solution to this without hearing an exact replica of what's going on. I thought it was just me; I kept verifying the files over and over only to see that "nothing's wrong," and then get the same glitch.

I'm sorry for the wall of text but I needed to vent a bit. I'm actually going back into the game, knowing that without a doubt, it's going to happen again.

this seriosly needs to be fixed, having exactly the same thing, right before blood money was released the game worked fine, after blood money ONLINE expansion that adds nothing to the SP experience it started happening

switching from vulkan to DX12 worked for me, tho now i get the DX12 issues instead

I dont know if this thread is still active, but one thing that worked for me that i dont see listed here is uninstalling GeForce Experience. I had this problem for a week and Rockstar support proposed that method and it worked. Hope if you still have this problem it solves it.

omg i got the exact same issue
every time i try and go into the je mission area the game stops responding textures not loading etc
made me quit the game as i had no way to progress
hopefully this thread will save me
man how does rockstar manage to shock me with their incompetence each time
by far the worst glitch ive experienced in a game just completely stops u from playing it
