Online missions possible to solo?

After doing the online intro, and after getting that treasure, you're told to meet a guy, which gives you the first online mission. Don't remember name of dude or mission, but it's about stealing horses.

The mission info CLEARLY says "1-4 players", still it doesn't seem possible to do it with less than 2.

Anyone knows if it's possible at all to do this alone?

Btw, I don't have the game on Steam, bought it from R*.

I don't understand. Isn't "posse" a pre-made party or something like that? If so, that wouldn't be 1 player.

Yeah I did that first mission with 1. Leave it trying to find people for a while then start it up. The NPC even comments about you doing it solo.

Doesn't work. Can't start it in any way unless you have at least 1 other player. The only thing I can do, is change the group size (2, 3 or 4), or simply quit - there's no way to just start it. If I just leave it (2 is default group size), it will start only when someone else joins.

Just tried again. Couldn't even change group size now, would only accept 4.

I've done that one solo.

But that was only because it failed to find other players to matchmake with me.



You're forced to do them with others, you have ti either matchmake or make a group yourself.

Outside of the story missions in online mode, you're not usually forced to team up with other players, and the story missions find other players for you, so it's not like you have to form a posse or whatnot. If you want to play completely solo, it is of course annoying to be forced to do a story mission with other players, but beyond the first story mission, you could ignore the story missions if you're that unhappy about it. You might even be able to ignore the first one, though I don't think so.

Either way, you're certainly free to just play the single player stuff if that's what you'd prefer.

i did this mission solo yesterday
the matchmaking will run for a few minutes then it will let you start by yourself

Wait...

Most story missions require a group, but that tutorial mission is one of the rare missions you can actually do solo. I've done it solo before. o_o

If you suddenly can't then that's a really bad 'progression-blocking' bug. :(

Can't answer you're question, though, haven't played in years, and even if I remembered, a lot may have changed since then.
