Intel i5 Performance
Does Rockstar have plans to fix i5 performance or is this dead in the water for i5 owners?

If it's dead, you should offer a console version of the game for pc purchasers who have non-hyperthreading cpus at no additional cost.

I waited for the pc version but now wish I had just purchased the PS4 version.

Please do the right thing.

are you a wins 7 user

also asking for a free console game when you bought it on pc facepalm
many people having problems are either using wins 7
2070 and 2080 supers or AMD in genreal at the moment in every forum are having issues

if using wins 7 tuff its not supported anymore and not anyones problem but the user using and outdated OS
if its the 2070 or 2080 super then look for tips from user that have them cards
if its amd then talk trash to them about their latest garbage drivers

or take a deep look at ya pc and see whats going on wile running the game and why this happens

I5 4690k oc to 4.3ghz
RX580 8gig vram
16gig sniper ram @1800mhz
Im not sure why people have issues running it I probably have the oldest i5 in this thread and I dont find any issues at all. I mean maybe some peoples definition of playable is different than mine but to me it looks just fine on my system

I'm playing on a GTX 1650, 8 GB ( single channel) and a GTX 1650 paired with an i5 9300H. I use the digital foundry setup compared to the consoles. Lowest FPS I recognize are in Saint Denis (~40-45).

You should be able to run this...

I don't recognize stuttering anymore cause I found solution for that issue.

Also:
i5-4690k (not overclocked)
RX570 8GB
16gb 1600 Mhz Ram

I'm playing it smooth as butter, hell, I even run it at 1440p as this game seems designed to play at 30 fps, so anything from 35 up seems smooth. @ 1080p I get 50 to 60 fps easy. very smooth experience. Maybe OP needs to try adjust their in game settings, possibly follow one of the many optimization guides out there

Some gameplay on my system, playing at 1440p, recording software only sets at 720p though:

i5 4590. FPS varies 70-90. I have no issues running the game (only the ones related to the crappy cockstar launcher)

It won't be fixed, this game pushes the physics harder then any other game out thier, I seen spikes up to 50 - 60% on my ryzen 5 2600x when playing this, so that tells you this game takes advantage of a 6 core or better, its time to upgrade, a quad core or less is not optimal

I use Xbox Game Bar to monitor my games, if you have windows 10 then you have it already it comes with it, will monitor CPU, GPU, VRAM, RAM and Framerate

also KroniKx187 is right most games need 60 but this one plays well at 35 or better, I get about 40 - 50 average with the settings I run, most are at high/ultra, only a couple I had to drop to medium

Well everyone saying it must be OP is an absolute moron. There is something going on behind the scenes here that Rockstar can't figure out and fix. I'm currently running a strix 270H with 8gb ram i5 7600k and a GTX 1060 6gb. I can max graphics on any game and it plays smooth with exception to two. This and GTA4. Now here's the weird thing. Both games played fine until they didn't....for the longest time GTA4 ran fine, then with no changes to anything, it didn't. RDR2 ran fine for the first 50hrs now not so much. I'm not sure if game progression has made the lag worse or if it is in fact updates to windows and drivers, anyone else notice this? I make this accusation because I have changed NOTHING else on my PC. The lag on this Rockstar game started about a week ago and again nothing has changed other than software updates. Now the only game I've ever encountered that has under performed while playing on an over spec'd pc is cities XL 2012. The game had major issues with script around CPU usage during gameplay. At that time I was running games like sleeping dogs maxed out with no issue and this p.o.s. would bog down and crash my pc. As I've noticed with RDR2, the further you progressed into the game the worst the CPU drainage became AND as with both Rockstar games, there was zero lag or crashing in the first several hours of gameplay. They referred to it as a memory leak in the forums of that game. Either way, our PC setup's are more than sufficient to run the game on maxed out settings should Rockstar had made the game properly and coded it properly for PC. If that makes you butt hurt, well ♥♥♥♥, idc.

Dude a GTX 1060 is not going to max out this game at all... You would need at least a RTX 2070 or above to do. Also you're only using 8GB of RAM which is pretty low in 2020. The Minimum RAM you should have is 16GBs.

You want H/T off in this game, or Windows to only use the physical cores. As spectre and meltdown are still a thing and patches only slowed everything down. I can imagine the i5's are very dependent on H/T to make up the thread count.

SMB on AMD should stay on, cus its not affected.

Disable the HWS feature in Windows 10 RDR 2 produces framerate spikes. Using the adaptive performance mode in NVCP. Enable Vsync through the NVCP + FPS Limit, in my case 60 FPS cause of the 60Hz refreshrate.

An i5 has hyperthreading but is disabled, that's what seperates it from an i7, so no, an i5 does not in anyway rely on hyperthreading.

Basically it works like this for desktop processors:

Pentium: dual-core

Core i3: dual-core with Hyperthreading

Core i5: quad-core

Core i7: 4/6/8-core with Hyperthreading

You're exactly right on the memory and exactly wrong on the RTX1060. I upgraded my memory today and I'm playing maxed out everything and it runs like budda. It was simply a RAM issue. OP check your RAM and upgrade if possible. I went from 8GB 2133 to 16GB 3600 and the game literally runs like butter. May not look as great as a 2070 but it handles it no problem, no jutter, no lag, nothing. EVERYTHING is maxed out and it looks gorgeous.

No you are wrong, thier is no possible way you can max this game on a 1060, my 1070 can't even do it so quit lying

Ultra Preset is NOT max detail btw, there is more options in advance graphics that push it harder
