To be fair, it's pretty buried, and personally, I would have expected something like that in the game settings, not in the section that the key mapping menu labels "Log / Player Menu." It's unlikely that anyone looking for such a setting is going to look where it is without digging through most of the settings first. Now, I also dug through pretty much all of the menus to see what there was and found it, and I would have expected most people to go through all of the menus to see what was there, but I'm also the kind of person who would read the entire manual for a game before playing it back when games actually had proper manuals (and honestly, this game could use one given some of its complexities), whereas many people seem to always ignore manuals (which is one of the reasons that we now have to go through annoyingly pedantic tutorials in many games instead of getting a proper manual).
Thank you. It's nice to see somebody using their intellect rather than being snide for the sake of abusing another person. I used to post such tips and hints widely in the forums but have stopped doing so because of the sheer level of cattyness among allegedly 'intelligent' players. Maybe I'm getting old (been playing computer games since 1981) but I like to think that gaming brings people together, not allows others - anonymous behind a screen - to be abusive for some self-satisfying reason. Erynar is HONORABLE. More than I can say for the other posters.
Indeed I miss the era of manuals. Back then you at least had some inkling of what could be done in a game. To date I've been 'guessing' what my options are.
BTW, as I understand it, it's not actually possible for anyone to truly steal your horse. If you have the settings set so that anyone can ride it, then they can take it and run off with it, but they can't really keep it. From what I read, you can't even take a wild horse and make them yours in the online version, let alone sell a horse (though I haven't actually tried either). You just get the horses that you buy and at most can temporarily borrow the horse of an NPC or another player. Still, I locked down my horse so that only I could use it so that I could treat it the same way I do in single player and not worry about it.
Much better to leave it open and do that imo.
Well, in my experience the person who stole the horse just sits there where they went. In one instance the horse did not return, while in another the horse thief did not get off, nor did the horse attempt to throw them off. I had two choices, log out and log back in again or shoot the offender.
I'll be honest, I enjoyed immensely shooting the offender. He had it coming.
