Has anyone managed to solve light flickering with SLI?
Hi all,

I've tried to find solutions online but unfortunately no luck. Has anyone managed to solve the intense light flickering when using Vulcan and SLI? Here's a video of it[www.dropbox.com].

The game runs perfectly otherwise, so I'd love to be able to solve it with perhaps one problematic setting I'm overlooking. (Though the game also crashes whenever I try and change most settings, so I'm changing them in the settings files directly.)

I do. Switch to DX12. Runs perfectly for me on high Ultra settings

I think it's excellent that you're happy with your hardware! One of the great things about PC gaming is that some people can have SLI and others can not. If you can't help here, there's more interesting discussions for you elsewhere!

Interesting. SLI doesn't seem to work when I run on DX12. Though perhaps I'm measuring it incorrectly, but it's notably lower performance (from solid 70-80fps to 30-40fps). You're sure SLI is working and you don't just have a great single card doing all the work? Hehe. (I'm using 2xGTX1080s.)

SLI not supported with DX12. I have the same flickering issues in Vulkan, to my knowledge no fix for that yet.

NVIDIA control panel has a setting to force games to use SLI in a less then optimal way called "Forced Alternate Frame Rendering 2" (AFR2) and that's what I used to use to get unsupported games to utilize SLI . Dragon Age Inquisition using AFR2 SLI did the same as yours and I could never get it fixed . Blinding white fog would also sometimes appear.

I SLI'd GTX Original TItans the moment they launched - Stupid amount of money for a MAYBE 30% increase on only supported games .... never even considered it since and have tried to talk everyone outta doing SLI

The moment your game as an issue , tech support / community / your bro/ friends/ mom / friends mom tells you to disable SLI and have a $1000 light up paper weight sitting in your rig while you look at comparatively worse frames. No thanks lol

SLI with Vulkan was working properly (albeit with the GFX_ERROR_ crashes over time) with the second or third update and older 9/19-11/19 Nvidia drivers. Frame rates were impressive and there was no flickering.

Subsequent updates from Rockstar introduced the Vulkan flickering that remains unfixed to date.

Currently your only choice is to switch to DX12 where SLI & NVlink do work.

I see a doubling of frame rates when going from one board to NVLink SLI on two with all settings maxed out making the game look amazing.

Imo easier to have 1 Titian GPU and besides if u have a TITAN GPU why do u ever need another card ? assuming ofc u buy new titans when they come out
The Titan GPU is an increase of 5-10% while the sli in RDR2:
DX12 (one GFX) around 30fps vs Vulkan(sli GFX) around 60fps

Sorry , to clarify , I USED to SLI Titans .... I OC'd em both to an early death but they lived a wicked high performance life lol They had an insane amount of gaming hours put on them -

But even SLI TITANS cant compete with even one 1070ti -or 1080ti or any of the 2070's n 2080's - Trust , I know cuz my Titans were OC'd to run at insane speeds (1250mhz stable on BOTH card's of that architecture was beyond amazingly lucky , silicone lottery)

Now I just love my 1080ti kingpin

Why in the gods name would you SLI. I mean I get it you got the funds but imo SLI is just unstable and useless tech that never worked out. It is like using 2 swords in real life. Mostly hard and impractical.

The scaling in RDR2 is actually quite impressive. For me it's the difference between playable and unplayable at 3440x1440, approximately 30% difference. The only issue is intermittent flickering in certain lighting conditions (mainly clear sky evening and some light-through-fog scenarios) but other than that is works quite well.

Your overall point is well taken though. My current (third) SLI setup will be my last.

WIth NVLink/SLI I get just shy of double of what a single 2080Ti is capable of.

It works VERY well thank you. I
