how do I lose weight?
I made the mistake of eating too much meat and today noticed I have a spare tire. I've moved to minimal calorie things such as fruit and hope that gradually my gut will go away. Would some extra running help? I know running builds stamina but does it burn fat?

Use your camp to regenerate your cores. If you need to do it, use cooked food to refill them fully. Just do it sparingly. It seems to be more about quantity of food items over quality from experimentation. I literally run everywhere without my horse and it seems to not really have a large effect on your weight gain. So cooked game once in a great while, and refilling cores at camp seem to do it the fastest.

I eat nothing but camp stew and am malnourished usually. Sometimes I have to eat a seasoned big game out in the field but not very often. I've tried to gain weight and it just does not happen. One game that has a GREAT weight mechanic is SCUM.

Yes.

Underweight means faster draining health, but slower draining stamina.

Overweight means slower draining health, but faster draining stamina.

Since you're on your horse most of the time, stamina is quite unimportant, and overweight is advantageous.

If you need to swim or row, just pop some drugs for you and your horse.

But can you even get fat in story mode? I eat all the time and still underweight

Am sure you could but from my experience I eat a lot less in story mode and don't tend to be concerned with keeping stats maxed like I do in online. Particularly the big buff foods to fill yellow cores 24/7. So Arthur is always underweight. Let's face it in story mode once you get the combat mechanics down it's easy. And you get plenty of warning before getting surprised in combat by way of npc's talking trash prior to engaging, cut scenes etc.

In online it's a different story. I always keep yellow health cores full to give me that extra absorption when I am free roaming solo. as it can be the difference maker when I get ganked by a player or have my horse with pelts knock me off when it gets startled by 4 wolves. So my toon is always overweight, lol.
