Mod request
Hello!
I am thinking of buying this game.
I have a pretty niche request, if anyone could help, for a mod.
You see, I am currently playing Kingdom Come Deliverance on hardcore mode. In this mode, the game disables the player map marker, so you have to actually use your head to orient the world.
I found that I absorbed more of the scenery in game and I hope I could experience that in red dead 2 as well.
Doesn't matter if I have to mod the game myself I just want to remove the GPS.
Yes, I'm wierd.

all i know about in SP is that you can disable the minimap ingame so you only get a compass to navigate, npcs also tell you where to go from time to time

Minimap? turn it off in settings and when you are lost use the big map You will be able to traverse the whole map by memory if you play long enough :)

In the settings, you can disable the "GPS" and the game won't tell you the path to take anymore. And if you don't want the mini-map to be displayed, then you can hide it as well. You'll still end up seeing your marker and which direction you're facing when you look at the main map though.

I'll warn you though that the game is very much designed with the idea that it will tell you where to go at least some of the time. If you refuse to let it, then the odds are high that you will fail missions due to the timer running out - especially for missions online.

True, Rockstar games are like that...

to be honest the GPS in this game is a MORON! djeezes christ the route you have to take sometimes, if you use your brain and go look first, a 5min horse ride can turn into a 25 sec ride. man i HATE THE GPS, just sad i love the mini map if i only could disable the gps and mods are not an option, i play online only.

I dunno I guess you could... turn off the compass in the HUD, and not look at the map in game. Maybe just look at an image of the map instead from a webpage, or print it out if you're truly feeling silly.

But as others have mentioned, the GPS is basically required to chase down NPCs and find other mission items, so that would really only work for wandering and exploring.

Bit of a shame that you´re forced to use it. KCD does everything without it and it all works fine.
But it IS Rockstar and they do things their way.
