Ragnarok esper or sword?

There's an "all magicite" achievement, I suppose I have to take the esper if I want to 100% the game?

I don't know that it counts, or it counts whether you pick the esper or the sword.
If you take the sword, you can only get Ultima by purifying the Cursed Shield, which is kind of a pain.

On the other hand, you can bet the sword at the Coliseum and win Lightbringer, the best weapon in the game.

But only one person can use Lightbringer (at a time), and you can teach Ultima to as many characters as you want.

Either is viable for completing the game and either can eliminate all remaining challenge in future combats, but the sword at least encourages slightly more creativity with build-craft.

Rsgnarok is not required for the Magicite achievement.

Some items can only be acquired with the esper's summon.

I always prefered Ultima Weapon which ignores defense and since i'm that Level 99 guy i've got no problems at all.

Only the cursed ring, but that's useless anyway. The other items can still be obtained through rare drops and theft, but it is much more difficult.

The esper makes your life easier if you want to learn Ultima and collect items, but the sword is an end game weapon you can get pretty early.

I would get the sword if you either don't care about the spell or if you're willing to spend the extra time to jump through hoops to get ultima from the paladin shield and the other items Ragnarok could have granted you.

For an easy time getting the Paladins shield to learn ultima, simply go onto the lone island in the WOR, where only peepers and land rays spawn. The peepers will all die virtually instantly, giving you a very easy time of getting the paladins shield and learning ultima. You can also steal elixers from them, which is an easy way of giving your party an entire set up wonder shoes.

Take the sword this version , it will serve you better. GBA or possible future versions with GBA content you take the Esper because you could then get the sword from stealing from the final boss.
