Bug after the patch
Hi,
I used to have a bunch of mods before the update that would replace the sprites and the soundtrack. When the update came, all of my mods were removed, but that's the least of the problem.
Now every time I load up my previous save, my controls are frozen. It's like someone pulled the plug on my controller/keyboard. I can't access the menu, I can't move my character I can't do anything.
If I start a new game, it works fine, so this is only happening on my saves.
I already invested 20 hours into this game and I don't want to start all over again, in worst case scenario I would downgrade to the previous version of the game I had before this update, because it seems like the update doesn't like my current save file.

I can DM the save files if you guys want to try to help me.

Your save files need the mods to work, if the mods have been removed, those save files are no longer usable till you reinstall the mods. Those save files are mod dependent..

Is there a source for this statement, or are you just guessing? It seems absolutely bizarre that fan mods could somehow modify save games in a way that would make the game still able to load them without mods but would cause the controls to not work.

Now every time I load up my previous save, my controls are frozen.
I don't know what's causing your problem, but I can suggest a few things to try fixing or diagnosing it:
- Make sure you've uninstalled every mod; verify the game's integrity with Steam, or uninstall and reinstall it.
- Try turning Steam Input support for the game off (or on if you had it off), or reset the controller layout to default.
- Have you tried both keyboard and controller?
- Do you have any other programs running in the background that might be taking input away from the game's window? Try closing everything that's not necessary.
- Do you have another computer you can test it on to see if the same problem happens there?

Hi, thanks for offering to help me. I did a few tests and surprisingly got it working.
What I did is I downloaded through steam console the old version of the game. I completely deleted everything in the FF IV folder, replaced it with the old version, ran it and tried to run the old save files. The controls worked.
So then I thought to myself what if I download the new version? So I validated the game files and got the new version of the game. And surprisingly it worked, I was able to move again.

My guess is one of the mods was not deleted in the newer update and caused the save file to bug out. Downside of this is now probably most of the mods on Nexus don't work. I kinda liked the white haired Cecil from FF IV 3D remake. Oh well, thanks again.

Still stutters like DAY 1 of the pixel remasters.
They refuse to fix the stuttering when walking around, its maddening, and because of it there's no reason to play this version unless you like having your eyes annoyed.

I didn't even notice the stutteribg until someone pointed it out, for what it's worth.

I had a similar sounding problem of all the controls being frozen after loading a save. It seems the new update isn't compatible with the Memoria mod. Removing Memoria fixed the saves for me, so try this:

1) Make sure your game is NOT running.
2) Find where your FFIV Pixel Remaster is installed.
3) Browse to ...\FINAL FANTASY IV PR\BepInEx\plugins and delete all the files there.
4) Run the game, reload a save, and see if you can move the characters.
