So i wasted all my potions without knowing that the Heal command was using them
I thought Edward command was a free AoE heal just like the Bard in FF3 so i was using it religiously... and then "No more healing items" or something appeared and i was like "chotto matte" *jazz music stops*

I think they should have put some description to the special commands, instead of letting people in the "darkness"

Yeah, it's weird that there are so many special commands in FF4, yet the game doesn't tell you what they do.

Yep same here Edward sucks

This happened to me when I played the old PS1 release. As far as I'm concerned, getting screwed by Edward's mad potion habit is a quintessential part of the FF4 first-time experience.

I think in the American Super Nintendo version he literally just ♥♥♥♥♥♥ off. This is marginally better.

I'm a hoarder. When I figured out that he was consuming my health potions, I instantly discarded my current run and loaded a 2 hour old save.

Yeah character abilities have gone through a lot of transformation between all the versions. Edward in FF2US only had the Sing command he has in this version, no Heal. He's just as useless as he always was. He was way more useful in 3D when he had songs to choose from (I.e. Haste March).

I still don't know wtf "Cry" does in this version.

In the original FFIV, it increases your chance of stealing from enemies... which, yes, means it's completely useless, since Porom and Edge can never be in the same party.

In the 3D version, it was changed to halve enemies' defense and magic defense, which makes it quite powerful.

Cry confused enemies in the PSP version.
Seems even the developers couldn't quite decide what they really wanted it to do... ;P

You just fight with Edward and hope his harp does some kind of status attack like confuse. He's a waste of space honestly and only there as an extra target to hit...

Bards didn't really become a thing in Final Fantasy until the online version, 11.... then they were kind of decent to have around to buff the party.

But in general bards have always been trash in FF... The only time they're useful is in FFV when using Romeo's Ballad on Omega to cast Stop on him.

Edward is so short lived in this game you pretty much power level him to like level 10 in the Antlion Den and then just keep attacking with him until he leaves the party like 30 minutes later... LOL.
