Game refuses to load main menu

Hadn't played in a long while. Steam automatically updated to Version 1.1. Now, I can't even get to the main menu. After the "Criware" logo fades, the game stays completely white without loading anything else. doesn't matter how long I wait, nothing happens, and no input changes this. There are also no error messages or anything of the sort.

I've already tried the following and none of it worked:

- Restarting the game
- Restarting steam
- Verifying cache
- Uninstalling and Reinstalling the game
- Starting the game directly through Steam (in case my shortcut was was to blame)

I've played and beaten this title on Steam before, and never once had this problem. I already tried searching online and so far cannot find any information about this issue.

Does anyone have a good idea on what else might work that I haven't already tried?

[Edit] Also, this game is unmodded. In case that helps.

Also tried the following since my initial post:

- Update Windows
- Update video drivers

Still not working. Just the splash screens, then fade to white, and then nothing.

Downloaded and installed Final Fantasy II and have had no issues with starting it up. The problem is specific to this one title.

... Well, Final Fantasy I: Renaissance is a superior version of the game anyway. Gonna get back to playing that version instead (Highly recommended, btw).

I beat Final Fantasy I: Renaissance a few days ago. Just remembered I posted this and came back to find no responses... so, uh, *bump* I guess? Just a on lark that maybe someone has a decent troubleshooting tip I haven't already tried above.

Are you sure the game is completely unmodded? Because I've seen this issue happen if I had previously overwritten the English font files with the Japanese font files in order to use the full-width English font. The issue doesn't happen when using a different font file instead; try copying the Korean font files (font_ko) over the English font files and see if it loads then.

As stated, the game was completely uninstalled and reinstalled as part of troubleshooting. Even if there was a font mod, it would have been erased during that process. But, I guess I might as well try copying the Korean files overtop the English font files anyway. Couldn't hurt at this point.

I have the exact same problem but can't find any solition

Does your game also starts window for a second then goes full screen??
Thats the one difference I noticed from starting up my other Pixel Remaster to FF1

I tried playing it on my Asus Rog ally, and the same problem the white screen after criware logo. I installed it on my desktop PC and it works fine there...

I just double-checked... Nope. Mine goes directly to full-screen.
