Ranking System and the teased Career page
Been playing the game on and off since release, and have loved it thus far. The only issues that have been consistently plaguing it for me is the frustration with the rank system. For me, every time I climb back to plat 3, I get put into 15 matches in a row that are against plats, with teammates that are gold/silver, until I drop back down to plat 2, despite scoring several goals in each game to keep it close. I do understand that the servers that I play on just simply aren't populated enough to give me perfectly matched games, so switching to another region may fix this. The problem is that I can only play on the servers that are closest to me, otherwise the input lag renders the game unplayable at high ranks.

I love the idea of the transparency that the recently teased career page could give, and I would greatly appreciate the insight it would give me on how each match affects my rank. In my opinion, what would really improve the rank system for people who get volatile teammates, is to make the rank system take into account the ranks of your teammates and opponents and your personal performance in the match (if that isn't the case already). It should especially take into account things like teammates leaving or being AFK that have a pretty significant impact on the outcome. It simply is too frustrating to try to climb to legend, not because of the game mechanics, but because of input lag, the toxic community (which can't really be helped unfortunately), and the frustration caused by the rank point criteria being somewhat opaque.

I also just think it would help the community as a whole. I know a lot of the frustration with the game comes from wanting new people to come play the game and populate the servers, but you never want people on your team who have no idea what they're doing. If the system is changed so that you at least know that a loss won't affect your rank super hard since your teammates are just new (or I cannot stress enough, if they're AFK), or if you're able to outperform your teammates in a loss to still gain rank, it may prevent people from leaving matches early or being super toxic to new players. In the end, I know its a balancing act, as then people might lean harder into puck hogging to farm points, stealing goals, etc. I do still think that despite that, it would still improve the experience for many people though, so they don't feel punished for having teammates several ranks below them, and don't feel the need to take it out on people just trying to learn.

Hey, the career page is definitely coming next patch. It's pretty much ready to go. Thanks for your feedback on the matchmaking system. As you've correctly identified, it can be rather difficult to create perfectly balanced matches with a limited player pool but rest assured that we are doing the best we can and are improving the system as we go. The rating system does not take personal performance into account because we don't want to encourage selfish or otherwise toxic behavior. We want to keep the emphasis on team play. That being said, if your team mates are lower rated than your opponents the system will not take as much rating from you to counter some imperfect matches. Hope that answers some questions :)

All makes sense! Thanks for clearing that up, glad to hear that progress is being made in the right direction and the career page will be a great addition. Glad to know that the system is being tuned with those things in mind. This game deserves more players for sure.
