This game was bad by all accounts.
The structure, the readability and optimization of the code, the graphics, the credits and even worse bad/cringe decisions.
There will not actually be a part two to this canceled "game". It's much more of a complete reboot from scratch.
With today standards, I want to make something fresh from scratch with clean and optimized code, good assets, fair credits and a customizable "story" path from where you can choose your own decisions to deal with.
There will be no message that says to you, you got a "good" or "bad" ending...
If you want to stay with her, HEY! It's your decisions, so why not?
If you want to hide and run away, it's your decisions...
Or maybe you are lucky enough to even avoid her completely, so she didn't even find out where your house is and where your life.
There are many new technologies I am currently experimenting with, so I am still not 100% sure where this reboot will go and end. Especially if I want to let the community also have later impact to it with ideas.
After discontinuing the 2D game, I began working on a 3D game in Unity that had nothing to do with this genre. This new game, developed within a 3D Unity environment, is in an advanced state of completion and is scheduled to be released before the reboot. It was primarily created to deepen my understanding of 3D engines and to better equip myself before delving too deeply into the main project.
I have already begun building a reboot related to this game, but aside from a few characters you'll remember from the Legacy Title, it will be an entirely new game in a 3D environment.
I started this reboot in both the latest Unity and Unreal 5 versions, and unfortunately, I quickly noticed the limitations of the Unity engine, which Unreal 5 handles much better.
I also successfully tested very early reboot-builds with Linux and Windows support, along with 'path tracing' lighting together with RT and (non-RT) hardware.
The next game that's coming will only be the beginning, but compared to this 2D game, it's hopefully a significant improvement.
According to the current idea, the reboot should take place in a very, very big world, where you have a everyday life, but somewhere in the vast world, there is "someone" wandering around looking for you.
At first, "She" doesn't know where you live, but if she finds out due to carelessness on your part, you'll either have to make your house much safer or spend the night outside if your house isn't safe at the moment.
You'll have a job, and the "late shift" also brings in the most money, but it also brings the most danger in terms of returning home.
(These are the current concepts of the reboot, which will be played in 3D graphics, hopefully with the latest UE5 technologies.)
Therefore, it will no longer be called "Yandere Escape" as this reboot is much larger than just an ordinary facility.
