Dune: Awakening

Shouldn't armor swatches be restricted for bases only?
I noticed that you could change your armor color any time you wanted in the beta. Now, normally that wouldn't be an issue, but considering this game doesn't have name tags or any indicators for showing friendly and enemy, I think armor colors are going to play a big role on target acquisition and identifying friendlies. Being allowed to change your armor color on the fly would allow you to make a clever play on the fly maybe, but it also takes away the necessary preparation you would need to do to pull off something like that.

Like, imagine that as a guild, you decide on a color scheme for your armors for the entire guild for easy identification. The enemy, after a while, may use those colors to confuse you. So to counter that, the guild may decide to change their color each operation to combat infiltrators. But if you can change swatches on the go, it removes a strategic aspect from the game that might be cooler if it was restricted a little bit. All anybody needs to do to get close to a group without arousing suspicion is to see them in the distance and quickly change their color scheme, as opposed to knowing it ahead of time.

What does everyone else think?

I can understand your case, however I also see it from someone who want to infiltrate. It is war of assassins.

No so we can color our armor and weapons to have guild colors and stand out in pvp and pve for groups.

Armor coloring wasn't included as some way to coordinate during PVP - so no, it should be freely altered whenever you like - just like your gear.
For survival games I agree. You should have to return to base. Then to your loom. Pulling your dyes from storage.
