I will start, maybe the information is in other places but here are some things I found in the game.

You can get free sand bikes at the Anvil trade post. There is a little garage structure to the side, and not always but sometimes a sand bike spawns that you can claim and take. Great thing if the worm or storm eats your bike. I claimed like 4-5 of them. I had multiple of the bikes I claimed at my house.

You can climb up the side of a sand worm. You just need a friend to sacrifice themselves to fill the sand worms belly. It is a short climb and then he takes off. Don't think you can ride them yet, but they are actual physical structures you can climb for a few sec.

Stay hydrated. Pay attention to stamina bar. Learn what triggers its regeneration and what stops it, and what drains it. For example, running wont drain stamina but it stops regeneration. Walking will not stop stamina regeneration, but you need to stand for a while to trigger its regeneration.

Also you can fall from a very high place, but as long as you grab any vertical surface before reaching the flat ground, you won't take any fall damage.

An Atreides bio degradable friend.
Harkonnen use thumpers by lack of friends, but that will give the worm bad constipation.

For the small window of time that exists before the sandworm comes up from underneath it and eats it?

No, stick your base to its back and ride along!
