Can anyone help, I have a configuration question on self hosted servers
Is there a setting on self-hosted servers to set the time for the base backup tool to be a time between 7 days down to 24 hours or less? Or is it a hard coding issue that will not be available to set

Bumping to see if there is anyone that can assist
The setting exists in DefaultGame.ini

[/script/dunesandbox.buildingsettings] m_BaseBackupToolTimeRestrictionInSeconds=604800

The time is in seconds, so if you want 6 hours cooldown put 21600. I haven't tried this though so I have no idea if it works.
thanks, where do I find this .ini file? Is it somewhere in the virtual server for dune, the installation directory for the server or in the client?
Its in the game pod "sg-survival-1-pod-1" and you'll go into the /home/dune/server/DuneSandbox/Config and its in DefaultGame.ini and other stuff in DefaultEngine.ini

As for what "works" no idea. I haven't tested everything. I know taxation works, and a few other things appear to work and some appear not to work.

You'll need the section title like "[/script/dunesandbox.buildingsettings]" and then whatever option under that section you want to modify and place them in the file browser's appropriate file (game or engine) and restart the server
OK, I looked but with no shell command experience how do I list, change branch location or edit? Is there a command list somewhere for reference?
ls - list
vi - text editor (lookup a guide, not vim!)
cd - change directory

Its standard linux commands. The vm is running alpine linux, busybox. You just need to cd to the path I gave and you can cat or vi the files (ls will show files in the folder)

You can find guides for basic linux stuff online, I'm in bed but if no one else jumps to assist you with any questions I'll help you when i wake up.
If you are running the server from the battlegroup batch file. Choose #13 open-file-browser.
Under the user ini just add "m_BaseBackupToolTimeRestrictionInSeconds=604800"
in the existing [/script/dunesandbox.buildingsettings]
Change the seconds to your liking.
is it the UserEngine.ini or the UserGame.ini file I don't just have a User.ini file -- Disregard I see where you are talking about under the UserGame.ini file
UserGame.ini file . I shorten it. I got it work only once. Still need to wait 5 more days.

I was able to get into the DefaultGame.ini file I found the entry you spoke of but I am not clear on how to edit the change into the file, I did find some guidance on using a Linux editor but I am still not clear on making the edit correctly. I certainly don't want to corrupt this file in error.
You dont edit the DefaultGame.ini you should modify the UserGame.ini in the file browser option. I dunno if it works at all though, I haven't tested it.. Some options seem to work others dont.

The DefaultGame.ini is shipped with the games default values for every script. I wouldn't recommend editing it. But if you want to try anyway.

"cp DefaultGame.ini DefaultGame.ini.bak" (copy the file for a backup)
"vi DefaultGame.ini" (open text editor with this file)
":/m_BaseBackupToolTimeRestrictionInSeconds" (enter to search for this string then press "i" key to "insert" replace the value 604800 with whatever you want using arrow keys to move around, DEL/Backspace to delete)
":wq" (write + quit)

Because the file is effectively the default file updates are likely to restore it back to the original.

Ok thank you for the information, I thought that editing the GameDefault.ini was a little dicey, hence my nervousness. I made the change in the UserGame.ini file first, it didn't seem to change the action of the base backup tool. This may have been because I tied to use it and set a timer for it prior to the edit, I will see.

Thank you for the assistance and the education, it is very much appreciated.
