$50 price tag is a big mistake
They should have went for $30 and added some deluxe edition with cosmetics for a higher price.

Paying $50 for a PvP focused MMO won't bring a lot of players, and players is what you need to keep MMO alive.

You are funny. Clown? (Also game is not PvP focused. PvP is optional. Do some research before post. And I love PvP/PvE. Also 50 bucks is good price for a legendary game.)

It is a PvP focused MMO because to get the most out of the game you will need to engage in PvP battles. And even if the game had no PvP content, the base price would still be too high.

Also, many survival players want a game that allows host their own servers and play with friends without having to deal with all the mess on official servers. The $50 price tag and no private servers will hurt the game a lot.

If you can't afford a $50 video game you've got bigger problems in your life you should be focusing on.

Lol another post with no research. Watch this video and Get rid of ignorance. (Again 50 bucks is low for a legendary game like Dune: Awakening. Deal with it boy.)

It's not PvP focused, It is an optional part of the game and the only reason to get the pinnacle gear from the PvP areas is to do more PvP.

Have fun running around a half-empty world and building bases in a game that revolves around player conflict and faction wars.

Do you say the same thing as you pay for your monthly wow subscription with 50 dollar expansion packs?

PVP-only MMO games (even those that make end game PVP-only experience) have never really gained widespread popularity. The most successful MMOs tend to be those that offer PVE as an option—or even as the primary focus. Most players seem to prefer the freedom to engage in the game world without being forced into constant player combat. Quite frankly, "I am NOT here for YOUR enjoyment."

Well said, Over 2 decades of online play I've always found PvP to be popular with very aggressive people who can't take no as an answer.

You'll play through all of Dune Awakening's content in the first week.

Once you're at end game your options are, testing sites (PVE dungeons) that are so faceroll every one of them can be solo'd easily, or go to the deep desert and participate in some laggy (latency not FPS) ass PVP because their servers are terrible.

People saying the game isn't PVP focused are delusional. There isn't anything on the PVE side that provides a challenge. There's 0 PVE group content. If you need a group to do a testing station you're either suffering a disability IRL or never played a game before.

Normally I'd be all for a PVP focused game. But Funcom has no idea what they're doing. Their vision doesn't match their technical ability. The deep desert is so bad it's laughable. There are invisible loading screens about every few thousands meters. It's so obvious they realized midway through development they couldn't accomplish their goal of making it an actual MMO. It suffers in the exact same way Atlas and Last Oasis did. A bunch of small maps stitched together with the most jarring interruption in control you could imagine when loading between them.

It's crazy that Planetside 2 released like 13 years ago and easily did what this team with current tech can't even come close to accomplishing on a technical level.

Then go play Planetside 2.

I've played MMOs since Ultima Online when PVP-focused players were known as PKers (Player Killers). My first encounter with what I can only describe as a real-life psychopath—based on their in-game behavior—immediately turned me off from PVP. A brief stint in Asheron's Call's PVP-only server, Darktide, only reinforced my belief that many PVP enthusiasts tend to be unstable, antisocial types who enjoy making others suffer for their amusement. That's why my personal adage for MMOs has always been: "I am NOT here for YOUR enjoyment."

The reality is that PVP-only MMO games have never been widely popular because the majority of MMO players don't seek out grieving others for "lulz." Most prefer games where they can explore, cooperate, and enjoy the experience without being subjected to the whims of those who take pleasure in ruining it for others.

Sorry if I'm repeating myself, but MMOs that focus on PVP—even when it's just the endgame content—tend to be a miserable experience for anyone except those who actually enjoy bullying others.

Pretty much exactly why I've avoided PvP, It's not my thing and the people it does attract tend to be the aggressive type or worse.

While these are fair points, PS2 could do what it did because it had Sony money and Sony infrastructure behind it. There's a reason why no one else is even trying to compete with it. Funcom certainly don't have that budget, so temper your expectations or go elsewhere.

While I do agree that $50 is quite high for an MMO - I could understand $40 for what would be a standard edition. However, given there is no Monthly Fee, following in the path of Guild Wars 2 - $50 seems reasonable, though could be a barrier to entry, given how the world economy has failed to recoup since the coof, and with tariff threats about to increase inflation, cost of living, and everything else.
