If that's enough for you to not like the game, valid point. Personally I wouldn't think it's enough since many aspects are still a 'work in progress' but we all have our own metrics and break points.

Not true, and this is not an airport, and your probably not a Captain?
The only thing I agree with is the fact that we can't see character names of players unless we are close enough to interact.
The game was never marketed as being a co-op type game where you can complete quests together so don't know why you would be upset at that not being part of the game.
Yep, co-op works just fine for the game. There are some solo instances for the story quests but most quests can be done as a group.
You can build bases together as a guild too, and harvesting many resources together is more effective in a group as well.
Endgame activities are highly dependent on cooperation; you can ride vehicles together and do such things as players piloting carryalls, hauling harvesters to the spice fields with other players driving the harvesters and others acting as worm scouts in ornithopters telling the carryall pilots when to swoop in and pick up the harvesters before a worm comes. The PvP is also all about cooperation too.
