Dune: Awakening

Remember this...
Just because games having terrible launches has become the norm its not something we should just be ok with and this game is no exception its had;

1. 5 years of development
2. Over a year of closed beta testing
3. A currently on going closed beta confirmed up until the last live stream
4. An open beta weekend test
5. A month delay from its initial launch date
6. Devs have also confirmed that did some level of stress testing during the live stream by cramming everyone into a single instance of a server mesh in the DD

By all account pending anything exceptional this game should have a smooth launch aside from the poor design limits on player pop per seitch and the limit on the number of players allowed in the Deep desert which im sure will become apparent in the first week and reports of groups holding the DD hostage from the server being able to access it. We should be able yo expect this game launch to be relatively smooth...

Also helps that a large portion of players will be starting 5 days ahead of the open release, further scaling the time they have to deal with issues.

No plan survives first contact with the enemy. This is no different, and just like every other game or large project.
I remember one time that an update to Eve Online would overwrite windows system files and would make your computer not able to boot to windows after you restarted.
We live in a big and wild world full of weird stuff. Hope for the best, expect the weird stuff.
It might have a smooth launch, Unreal Engine 5 has had time to mature and the game benefits greatly from resolution scaling tools and frame generation being already implemented during the closed beta.

But then again, it is Unreal Engine 5 with very CPU-heavy features in vast open instances. I think a lot of people will be struggling with desync & framerate issues.

There will be issues but hopefully they will affect individuals and not entire servers.

The only thing we've learned from history is that we do not learn from history.
Its simple really...don't pre-order and wait for the reviews. Some of you people cut your own balls off and its your own fault.

Remember this...

Tech issues can happen at any time. Acting like a launch should always be flawless isn't being realistic. FC can prep for everything, test everything, etc, etc - and still, ♥♥♥♥ can (and often does) happen.

isn't that the truth
I'd expect the usual server shenanigans on both launches, but other than that, we'll see. I liked what was in the beta enough, but obviously that's just the start.
