Does anyone know if the kick is a skill of the mentat at 1min53 on the new trailer?

Trooper and Mentat got no melee skills at all.

Thanks, tempted by swordmaster but seems mentat and BG have the most useful starting skills.

I wouldnt worry much about starter class unless you wish to rush it. Trooper and Mentat are the first 2, I think BG is the 3rd one and swordmaster is the "hardest" to unlock. But the first 3 seems very easy.

Personally I just start as a Trroper.

You can unlock them all over time even if you can only use approximately 40% of them at one time. So you can mix and match for the best game play as you see it. Respecs were free every 48 hours(iirc) in the beta.
