I fell for this, but there is a "demo" on the Steam page that'll download the character creator and benchmarking client.
Not that the knife skin you get from it is tied to your account, given that it's a code. But, it's still there.
I have downloaded it previously though - months ago so thought maybe in my library but nope not there either

On the right side, under the "Is this game relevant for you" box. DOWNLOAD DEMO.
PRESS BUTTON. RECEIVE SHINY.
GIven what the code is, I'm certain it's identical. And given what the code is, I'd reckon it's going to be redeemable within the game, as it's not in a valid CD Key format.
Most promo codes are usual in game redemption codes. No idea where in game it's likely to be, but educated clue says it's likely to be in the main settings menu, or an option in the character research settings or something like that after log in.
If it gets spammed in the forums, I'll whip a guide on it, but obviously we dunnoh right now.
Woah woah woah. No room for that kind of lovey dovey Doo hickie bingbamboom-please-get-room-jumba-luv-lub talk! 😉
