The idea is that they want you to have to sit and swap abilities, so you just set a timer for 5-10 seconds to swap out when outside of a safe area.
As for "adding new mechanics and strategies", what will actually end up happening is just adding more stun and debuff skill spam, which is already a potentual problem without people chaining instant parries into double hitting special melee swings, or switching attacks while the others are cooling down.
The system's fine.
But this would be great for the tools/weapon shortcuts, 1 to 9 when we have 10+ tools and weapons is definitely not enough. It would be nice to put all combat related on the default one, and all tools on a alternative bar, keeping them nice and separate.
