Dune: Awakening

Private Servers. Why and How.
So nothing is killing my immersion and desire to play this game more than seeing the same ♥♥♥♥♥♥ block house built by every player on every visible chunk of rock.
That's why.
As to how. I can't see why we can't have Private servers for Haggia Basin and then we load into the player/trade hubs and the Deep Desert. The game is always online anyway so where's the issue?
There's no PvP in Haggia Basin (iirc), the Imperial Outposts are not required multiplayer content. So why are we forced to put up with plebs building ugly buildings and luring Worms all about the map?

Ye, I hope one day we will get private servers like in Conan Exiles with some connections to the hubs.

Thanks for the link. Good to hear that it's on the cards.
I really can't see why it shouldn't be possible. If they simply don't allow mods it sounds like it an easy include.

Here's the thing, your base is safe against sandworms anywhere as long as it is powered, when its powered, your entire land claim zone is pretty much invisible to sandworms. Doesn't matter what you do in it either. Bascially the goal is to get the landclaim up then a generator going asap, and then maybe a little hut to hide from the sun. I have a base in the beta outside of anvil, when I was doing the initial setup I did lose my land claim once as a sandworm ate it before I could get a generator down, but if you get that generator down and power it first thing, your pretty safe inside the landclaim area.

Yes, but how is that relevant to them putting in Private servers?

Bot farming ruining the market in the social Hubs maybe?
No "competition" over the ressources of the HB with another 39 players?
Odd i know :D

Players are only in Haggle Basin for a short while before moving on, and while I like building bases in games, I'm not about to waste time on a fancy construction. Even more so given that playing time is limited to a weekend beta.

to be fair, the ugly building's are due to the 5x5 build limit at the start. I'll assume, that as the game progresses players can get larger plots, and that's where the creativity can shine.

Also, this is Beta, most won't be wasting time on building, they' just be ticking boxes and progressing through the journey's.

Also, Also, What's the points wasting time building an Uber house that'll get deleted in a couple of days anyway.

Yea, just waiting for private servers. I still host full Conan Exiles servers to this day in PvE, it's immensely popular still.

They are "considering" private servers so I will consider buying the game when I see that happen.

Again the boomers wanting to play alone in private servers in a survival game... The people who kill the multiplayer aspect of a multiplayer game...
Gazz May 11 @ 3:13pm
And you win since they don't bother you on your "real" multiplayer server. Everyone wins.

No, I'm quite happy to go play in the Deep Desert with everyone else and gather in the social hubs repeatedly jumping up and down or emote spamming.
I just want to be able to explore the world the designers created, without the blight of other players "houses"
Private Server has mostly their own PvP or PvE Rules. Building rules, too and waiting for QoL Mods to play the Way their like.... "Build anywhere" Mod Classic. But with this Mod you need rules. So sayinf from the start this Game do not support Mods. Is like living years under the rock since Conan Exiles .Age of Calmility? (or how this is written) was an big good Conan Exiles Fan Mod..

Private servers would need to include deep desert and hubs. Their own complete server, essentially. Right now that isn't going to happen because they are still working through the logistics of you needing to run essentially three servers at once and I'm sure they want to streamline that.

What I can tell you with certainty is that private servers will never connect to official hubs. The biggest reason is the economy that they are, for better or worse, creating here. Private admins can spawn in deep desert drops and rush them to a hub and sell them for nearly nothing and ruin the ecosystem.

I will leave you with my personal thoughts as a long time host for my discord group for Conan Exiles- I hope they make private servers happen. From experiencing all facets of the the betas, multiplayer adds little to the base game other than making the world feel slightly less alone. No one even fights in the wrecked PVP zones, choosing to avoid each other. Mostly it comes down to seeing building and resource competition. If I can trade that for never getting queued out of my server, or getting logged out due to driving at speed into a cluster of player buildings that lag the whole server, yeah I am for it.
