Major concerns about Server Network
Hello,
I'd like to address what I feel is going to be a massive problem regarding the Server Network.
I'll be quoting the wiki and posts by community representatives.

Example of the Network Server Mesh:
1 Server = 1 Deep Desert
"Can host "Hundreds of Players" between 500 and 900..."

"....consisting of 9 servers seamlessly meshed together, each capable of supporting up to 100 players."
HB1
HB2
HB3
HB4
HB5
HB6
HB7
HB8
HB9

The wiki says:
"Hagga Basin - at least 40 players per instance, but this is very likely to increase with optimization."

Many in the closed beta have reported the limit to have increased to a 60 player online limit with a character creation limit of about 150-160.

The Wiki suggests there will be no dedicated servers... OK...

But, then I read FlamingMojo say:
"...they are potentially looking at offering private instances of the Hagga Basin map only, but maybe not at launch. Its an MMO, and the server infrastructure is a lot more complex than regular multiplayer games like Conan, Rust, Ark etc. Also these would be rented directly from Funcom - they will not be distributing dedicated server software."

So given the fact that there will be both an online player limit and character creation limit for Hagga Basin, plus the fact that Guilds are limited to 32 player slots, doesn't that stifle an entire Guild's ability to be on the same HB server shard?

It feels like Guilds will likely be forced to purchase a private HB instance in order to have everyone on a single shard....
How can we justify this?

Is there an ability to hop from layer to layer, for example: HB1 to HB6?

No one can really believe this is more complex then an Ark server, that, for example, can run a 12 map cluster with 200 players per map, giving you a total of 2,400 players on a single cluster.

I'm a network IT specialist, I've run such a server and didn't have any issues. Its a matter of Hardware...
We should be allowed to host our own servers or at least an HB.

Personally, I have big concerns with hosting private servers, that are linked to the normal pvp areas. The only way I can see it work is when such server would be completely disconnected from other HB instances and obviously the Deep Desert. Its a problem to manage cheaters when you own the servers as a company, its going to get nuts once you allow someone else to host a server linked to the normal public servers.

Trust me, I've seen it on Conan, Rust, and Ark. Large Chinese, Russian, or even Brazilian gaming communities will enter with hundreds of players, put up pillars or any buildable item they can in different zones, and block as many building zones as they can. They'll also take 100% control of the Deep Deserts. They have a preference for coming to US servers and killing any American players on sight, so there will be nothing to stop this from happening on Dune aside from allowing Dedicated servers.

Well, Hagga Basin is completely safe, and that's where main plot will take place. Also you can't spam building sites. I think there is limit of 2 or 3 bases per player, that you need to pay the tax for. There will be also hard reset each week on the Deep Desert. Good luck to anyone spamming and blocking anything with hard limits on and taxes on top of that. But ngl, dedicated servers would be nice.

Hagga Basin has 4-5 PVP zones confirmed by the beta users. Yeah, every player would have two base plots. However, they can expand it up to 5 times. With 32 players per guild, there is the potential to block 64 locations that can all expand outward. The taxes are a drop in the ocean in terms of payment. It's super cheap. What costs the most are vehicles. Vehicles can cost anywhere from 20- 30k Spice for just one.

Well, lets hope they will create enough of HB instances to make efforts of blocking anything futile. PvP zones on the other hand, I heard you can completely ignore those, and they are risk free if you do engage anyway. Its what I heard, mind you, I have no idea if its true or not.

It's confirmed only 9 HB instances per server.

We will have to see how it will look, I mean, I don't see the point of spamming bases everywhere in area that is pve. I think about this game as one that have similar system like Once Human has. If they balance the server populations right, it should be no issue with building your stuff. I am also certain that if there is 2 base limit, one will be for hagga basin and one for deep desert for the most players. And well organized pvp focused guilds will prefer to save their base limits for the deep desert and have only a few assembly areas in pve. But its all my guess. The point is, no need to worry too much before we see what truly is there.
