I played 1000 hours of Conan Exiles and never experienced what you're whining about.
I've also played Anarchy Online and The Secret World and never experienced item loss.
Sheesh.
If cases like this exist (yes, I have seen more threads about the same problem) then people should get worried, because it actually happened and can happen to everyone.
I just want to have a confirmation from Funcom that Dune will not have these problems, because I fear that they copy+pasted their Conan Exiles code into Dune.
Again, did you even read the Forum post (the link I provided)?
It just seems that some people try really hard to blindly defend this company.
Some kind of horrible bug or glitch might do it.
Other ways of dying is quite forgiving.
I don't think I noticed the link, I assumed that you were asking about permanent item loss upon death, so I gave you a confirmation. That's not a defence of any kind.
And no, Funcom couldn't possibly guarantee that the game won't have any bugs ever. We can only hope they've managed to reduce these random losses since Conan Exiles. If you want to play it safe, you should wait a good while after release before buying the game if the launch turns out to be super buggy.
Actually, yesterday my toon died in quicksand and I respawned him at one of my advanced fiefs.... and he respawned as if he died in combat or falling. IOW, I have all my armor, some of my stuff in my backpack, and all of my equipped items. With some minor item decay. So, apparently, the adage about quicksand deaths being the same as sandworm deaths could be a false flag?
Only way to confirm this is player base wide is for a bunch of us equip our toons with minimal basic gear, then intentionally die in quicksand, then respawn wherever.
Oh, and for all of the whiners who lost EVERYTHING from the wipe? Get over it.. THIS IS STILL A BETA. You were invited....INVITED to play it for FREE. And yet, you STILL moan and complain like a 4 yr old that didn't get the candy they wanted at the store.
And, iirc, there have been no MMOs in the last decade or so that have ported toons and all their possessions/housing from beta to Live. So, look at it this way, you lose today what you would have lost anyway, either on the 20th or 15th.
And now....let the salt flowwwwwww.
Well thank you for this information. I knew about losing equipment to sandworms already.
So you will lose nothing when your character simply dies in Dune? Because in Conan you lose everything and in Conan it happens randomly sometimes that your character dies when logged out. This bug has been in the game since 2018 and they never fixed it.
That's why I want a confirmation. Because Funcom takes forever to fix bugs/exploits, often critical ones. I guess my best bet is to wait and watch some reviews first before buying.
This sort of bug hasn't been happening very often in the closed beta, but some players have lost stuff when the game has crashed with the player near quicksand and upon relog they've been in the quicksand, that sort of things.
You poise yourself as a person with negative intelligence.
It could of course be as you suggest.
But consider that beta is not steam early access. In other words your game-version is not launch minus what they haven't gotten to implementing yet. If's a playground for them to put in whatever they want to see the effect of. We have several things beta testers assumed they knew, that contradicts with what the devs have said in both recent interviews and on discord.
So an alternative to false flag could be bug/glitch, that they haven't implemented it yet, or they were testing how it would be without what they claim to have planned. It could also be that I've misunderstood what was said. But it could of course be that they are doing many false flags to counteract NDA-breaches. Personally I have no inside info, and I'm not in beta, so I'm only relaying what I've gathered from official sources.
Whatever is the case, I hope you reported it as a bug so they can get to it before launch (if that is indeed what it was). I'm looking forward to experiencing the full unmitigated horrors of Dune XD
I doubt they if the check is big enough.
