But we will need to divide ourselves into two groups, playing over two basins maybe, so it's going to be a bit of a hassle at first no clues at all, Haha!
Anyhow, I will do a solo play-through as well and probably take the other side to see if the story is any different and to check out the other tech and building pieces.
It all depends on server pressure as well as location since we don’t know if there are different servers for the US, EU, or RU. I hope so, but we’ll see!
They did say you don't need to join a guild, or, it's recommend you might even just want to make a guild of 1 if you play solo and want to add to end game politics (no matter how small that influence might be)
*Edit
I also remember them saying whoever the ruling faction is could possibly apply buffs/debufs to their faction or the opposing faction, I guess like laws/doctrines etc
Nice! I didn't even consider you would be able to ally with the 3rd faction. That would be pretty cool.
Nice, I looked on the wiki and that's where I saw that there would probably be class cosmetics. I know cosmetics for the DLC will be big like it was in Conan. I do like the Idea of house specific cosmetics just because the houses definitely have different looks to them.
I watched one of the devs talk breifly about the landsraad and the ruling faction will affect votes that affect things like spice trade prices which will impact how much you need to pay in taxes to maintain your structures and things like that.
yeah the 40 player Hagga basin is an interesting choice for how huge it will be. I saw that even guilds will be limited to 32 players. It sounds like you have a lot of people to roll with. I am definitely in the solo crowd. I am planning on just selling Point of Interest info for money and doing a little PvP before making any decisions on joining guilds. If joining a house gives some kind of buff, that will definitely sway the decision. I like the Idea of allying with the balancing house too. Seems like there will be money to be made going that route.
I don't actually know of any but I just assume it's unavoidable. I don't think we need to worry about it too much though. Most of the game is PvE and from what I have heard from the beta, the sandworms are the biggest threats.
I'm as yet undecided, i'm waiting to see the building sets.
I looked on Dune Awakaning community wiki - https://awakening.wiki/Player_Guilds
As you can see some of the guild numbers are idiotic and aren't individual game based, but thats what happens in some games. Then Guilds with the same name and a number or sister guilds and stuff #Guild 1 #Guild2 #Guild3 you hope it won't happen here but sadly it does. Then they wonder why games get boring or there is lack of pvp etc when they "control" it.
I'll be primarily solo and just be looking to sell myself off for services or RSS as I waste hours farming RSS in most games >.<
The numbers there are actually pretty funny considering they either won't be able to play together or they won't be able to play against anyone else. They will have to pvp each other lol.
Independent: 327 players
Harkonnen: 47,285 players
Atreides: 7,428,572 players
Oh come on :P . Its not gonna be that bad. You underestimate how many people will join the weaker side just to have abundance of targets in the deep desert. I can assure you Ill be joining weaker one just for this sole purpose.
I've been on the underdog since my 2007 WoW days playing Horde and BG's. And than later on in PS2 where I played TR (Terran Republic) and VS (Vanu Sovereignty) never having played New Conglomerate. Normally I would log into whichever of the two, TR or VS, had the lowest pop. Not to mention I liked the look of all the factions I've played over the ones I didn't.
Worst comes to worst I just become a scav/recon and do things for a profit while avoiding all the political BS. Maybe there is a way to rotate my allegiance. Kind of like a merc for hire to the lowest pop faction at any given time.
To each their own.
