Dune: Awakening

Dune: Awakening

What does the Micro-Transaction / DLC model look like?
As someone that's been playing Conan Exiles for a long while, I've seen every form of micro-transaction being tried out in that game.

DLC packs with a one-off payment, that was good.
In-game FOMO store that lets you buy individual items, less good.
Battle-Pass with free and paid unlocks, middling.

Does anybody (fan or dev) know what their plan is for Dune Awakening?
I'm hoping that whatever their model is, they stick to it instead of bouncing all over the place like they did with Conan Exiles.

This was literally covered a few days ago on their website.

Oh perfect, thank you.

"In short, when Dune: Awakening launches on May 20th:

It will not be in Early Access, this is the full launch
It will not have a subscription
The game will continue to be expanded through free updates, bringing new content, features, and enhancements
There will be optional paid DLCs
Funcom has been developing and supporting live service games for a long time. All our three MMOs are still in service, with Anarchy Online turning 25 years old next year. Our survival game Conan Exiles is still in active development and being updated after eight years of DLCs, expansions, and countless free updates.

Dune: Awakening will be no different. With these games, launch is only the beginning, and we look forward to working closely with our community for many years to come."

It might be overly-optimistic to say, but this looks like they're confirming that there will be no battlepass or in-game-store.
"Optional Paid DLCs" makes me think of Conan's earlier (more well-received) DLC packs available to buy directly from Steam, without virtual currency or in-game shops.

I'm very wary considering how Conan Exiles started and where it is now. I pre-ordered CE back when it first came out. The way they shifted from paid DLCs, of which I bought every single one on release day (which is what Awakening is doing for now) to their FOMO, Battle Pass, overpriced Bazaar stuff makes me really worried about where this game might be in a few years. Which sucks, since I am a genuine Conan fanboy (written and film) and an even bigger fan of the Dune books.

Is Conan Exiles have Battlepasses now or it's removed?

It was removed recently.
Only the in-game store (Bazaar) is left, now.

They will be as greedy with this as they were with Conan Exiles micro's

I know they're going to be greedy, but I'm just hoping they keep all their purchasables under 1 umbrella.
Conan had Steam DLC + Battlepass + Bazaar, and because of that I couldn't care less about any of the content.
You ask me to buy your in-game currency to buy something in your weird shop, and I am offboard completely.
Put the stuff on the Steam store itself? I'll consider it.

The season pass does not exist. Lol

Well, at least it was just cosmetic stuff, with one wheel of pain replacement giving some sort of advantage of taking less space. Its not like there was P2W as far as I remember.

Must be my imagination then...

The 4 DLCs cost 20$ (Deluxe - Basic)
1 DLC = 5$

That means they'll have many cosmetics, micro and macro transactions.
They'll milk you, Sleepers.

Oh my bad, I thought you were responding to my Conan Exiles comment.
WELP, game's dead on arrival basically! Thanks Funcom.

If it was just cosmetics I couldn't give a ♥♥♥♥ but they are going to lop off actual game content behind a paywall..screw that nonsense
Ye, not a fan of companies having multiple DLCs planned before the game itself has even launched.
Always makes me feel like things are being chopped from the main game to re-sell a month later.
