First person. FIRST. PERSON.
None of this 3rd person flight garbage… retarded. I always hated it. I don’t want to be the aircraft, I want to be immersed inside the aircraft… piloting it. Why does this stupidity persist and continue to be the rot that is AAA gaming? Yes I think 3rd person viewing should be OPTIONAL…optional. There’s no way to describe my irritation surrounding 3rd person viewing while operating vehicles in high fidelity games. Makes it like kiddy stuff.

Can't wait to watch people like you half blind trying to land or fly right into buildings. Then come to the forums to cry about the game being too hard.

While I don't harbor quite such an aversion against the 3rd person perspective as the op does, I do think being able to toggle between 3rd and 1st person, while not strictly necessary, would be nice to have. Even if it's just for the sake of immersion or for making nice screenshots. I'm certainly not going to demand full HOTAS support for flying, either. This ain't Elite: Dangerous.

[Edit:] Though, that would be nice to have, too. So many things would. :P

I’m very attuned to flight simulation. I wouldn’t have any trouble. Furthermore, there’s always solutions in game design to give drivers/pilots high quality situational awareness inside a cockpit. I don’t like this old, tired way of vehicle use in high end games. I hate the feeling that I’m merely remote controlling them like an RC toy. I would rather experience DUNE in full fidelity, like I’m really there experiencing the world through my own eyes.

I like over the shoulder or semi-3rd person for melee gameplay, first person for most everything else. It depends on the game. Assigns Creed and games like Jedi survivor etc… swordplay is better in 3rd. But, this is DUNE. I have always agonized for a full on cinematic, sim level fidelity, first person game that is a realism take on the experience. Like living inside the movie. Everything… ships, vehicles, gear… everything is fully realized and functional. Wanted a DUNE experience like this far more than any other sci-fi game.

Exactly with the right instruments it can be done, but that takes work. I doubt they will be very sophisticated.
it's like playing with dolls or toys. you are the puppeteer not the puppet. I want to be the puppet!

yeah I like playing both first person and third person when we have the option like in ark when I m in my base I plat first person when outside third person and even in pvp I switch mid fight between them and I think it would be cool to add first person but if they don t want to add it s still ok

We need the option. That said, the standard started way back in 2004 before many here were hatched, and by which every other MMO was measured and copied (WOW) for decades. It was played 3rd person by millions. If it ain't broke...
I can't stand first person camera games, just makes me feel very dizzy. I played an archer on Skyrim using 3rd person camera, and was okay. Some games, like that, can offer both.

It's off topic though, doesn't matter what each of us likes, the game maker decides these, and not having both means less sales. I had to skip Cyberpunk, though I love the company, but just can't support first person mode (it's likely a medical thing, though I'm fine otherwise).

So I agree that options to have both is the ideal. May cost extra money, depends on engine, but not so much if it's done from day one. This game is almost done, so I don't know if would work well in first person.

Third-person works just fine, first-person just brings in more cheaters.
It's a classic case of cause and effect.

In first-person, your field of view is limited to what your character can physically see. That makes cheat tools like wallhacks (seeing enemies through walls) or ESP (Extra Sensory Perception) cheats (outlines, names, health bars through obstacles) much more impactful, because they give an unfair awareness that legit players don’t have.

And in third-person, everyone can already peek around corners and look over cover using the camera. In first-person, you can’t, so cheats that allow unnatural awareness give a bigger advantage, making them more desirable for cheaters.

First-person limits your natural awareness, so cheats that “see through walls” become way more powerful. That’s why cheaters love it.

So yeah, third-person is a good option, and Conan Exiles is third-person as well.
And hey, if it’s not your thing, there are tons of first-person shooters out there.
