End game PvP is just lazy development
Regardless of liking PvP, not liking it, or thinking its a take or leave it. When PvP is your end game, the developers are lazy. I takes very little effort to facilitate game play loops that are surrounded around static displays, territories, and events. It is far, far, far more difficult to create engaging PvE experiences, stories, and content that are repeatable and entertaining over the long term.

Quite honestly, this is where Dune as an MMO will fall into obscurity and remain a fairly niche game. Some of these all PvP end game loops do very well, but I highly doubt Dune will be among them. And just because a PvP loop is successful does not mean it's not lazy development.

Yeah he's totally wrong, games like Rust and Conan Exiles are always niche and poorly designed because they don't have to be.

Games where PvE and PvP are both viable options are usually very popular, like in Dark Age of Camelot and a few others. Players can do both or just one, and neither have an impact on the other.

World of Warcraft is a bad example because they tried to force players to PvE so they could get PvP gear, it made NO sense at all forcing them to PvE for no reason. The RvR in Dark Age was a perfect reason and gave players something to fight for instead of just random ganking.

So it really comes down to the implementation, there is no doubt a strong demand for PvP, but it hasn't really been implemented well in MMORPG's except for the ones I mentioned.

As one of the people who enjoyed Last Oasis at launch, I can tell you that killing large scale PVP is one of the reasons they killed the game.

Honestly, I'm not a group player, but I understood that if I wanted to enjoy that game I had to be part of one and it was fun. We had 15-20 people on one of those huge walkers manning different posts, like spear-launcher, bomb-launchers and so on. It was great. We did raids, hunts, farming runs, until the solos in that game started crying that they couldn't solo an entire clan. So they started adding more and more restrictions to maps, forcing large clans to split up to the point where they just disbanded.

I don't think Dune is similar to Last Oasis, but what I can tell you is that if they decide to listen to soloers, like Last Oasis did, I don't think it's gonna end too well.


There was a problem with mega zergs in Last Oasis too though, there needs to be some balance... those early days were FUN FUN FUN though, wish they could mount a comeback but it'll never happen.
Hard cap tiles were the perfect answer. Unfortunately they tried it with water restrictions, then they finally hard limited it, but made no effort to curb tail multi-clanning. Mega zergs were a huge issue in LO and one of the reasons why the population declined so hard early on, along with lack of content.

I think cooperative pve with zones for pvp is a greater option, able to use moontrucks to get the spice with .. you will need a unit to defend it with, I mean the game can go many directions .. it could be a full blown planet side alike game where it is the players Vs NPC that attack the base ? .. dangerous areas to explore and fly to ? sandworm battle to tame it ? .. idk there is many options, the limit is kinda like that it is on a desert planet so that limit things a bit ..

You put pvp into this game, with no propper anticheat & digital ID .. then your game will be swarmed with cheaters in no time, it happens to CS, fortnite, battlefield, COD, rainbow six and many more pvp games .. So that would be a bad choice, perhaps cooperative pve, similar to Star ship troopers would be a greater idea ? Yeah I think that would be a greater experience ..

That is just my oppinion on it

Sounds like a bunch of crying babymen who never learned to 'git gud'. Maybe take an L or two and use it as fuel to become better at the game instead of blaming your lack of skills and hurt ego on "lazy developers". Pvp is forever the real challenge.

Agree PvP is the best challenge but few games have merged it PvE in the right way.

That's what we're talking about here, try and keep up.
