If PVP is MANDATORY I will not purchase this game
As said in the title. I will not purchase this game if I will be constantly killed. I enjoy PVE only. Why not make it the players choice or have PvP zones. Shame I was looking forward to this game to play with my group of friends, but they like me do not like PvP.

Don't worry, if Dune Awakening leans heavily into PVP the developers will change the game design later on, like we've seen in many other games such as New World.

Why will they change it? Because PVP sandbox games continually fail over and over again. That's the reason why very few games with that type of game design are still being made.

Games like Rust do not because it requires a gamer to be online 24/7 and not care about other gamers, it's totally ruthless. From everything I read from the Devs about this game it will be just as ruthless.

im with you, you would think after the pvp fail in conan that they would understand the problem but they are just doubling down on it. my gaming crew has already said, if its forced they wont play.

Basically, you won't just be alone in a sea of people trying to gank you. You will have a whole faction of players willing to support you. Which really hasn't been done before on this scale.

It could be more like Planet Side 2 mixed with Conan or something.
ten or fifteen years ago i would agree, these days about 30 days in people will be asking to be able to faction switch every 10 days or so allowing them to flip back and forth and there will be ZERO faction loyalty therefore destroying the faction based pvp. and then theres the no life try hards that will meta up one side and completely decimate the any of the casual players, then demand the ability to faction switch. this is going to be another funcom disaster.

"I know this is an MMO, but as a Dune lover who likes to only do PvE content, can I completely avoid PvP content?

Absolutely. You can play the game without doing PvP. You don't have to care about it at all. There are spaces in the game that are PvP-marked, but others are marked as like guild peace where there is no combat. All of the social hubs are guild peace areas. Then you have areas that are like partial warfare and then the War of Assassins areas which are full PvP.

We break these spaces up and we tell people when they're entering one, we let them know."

Please mark this discussion as answered before anyone gets the wrong impression. It's very clear that in Dune Awakening you only have to interact with PvP as much as you want to.

Yeah but there's nothing in those areas.

This game is focused on PvP and this is a fact. If you want to have spice you need to go out to the pvp zones as far as i know. A total no go for me.

I'm not going to continue down this path as you've proven you're impervious to evidence and don't really care about discussing the game. If you watched the direct and did some research it would be beyond obvious that no the deep desert is not the only place you can get the resources you need. It's the best place sure, it's got the spice blows yeah, it's got the highest quality gear ofc, but still you can get whatever you need through the exchange, or you can work with a guild to get spice. Considering the fact you need spice to pay imperium taxes it'd make sense that you can get it outside of the PvP areas but just in pretty tiny quantities as the devs have been adamant that they want to enable full PvE care-bear gameplay. They want to encourage you to go the deep desert, but not force you. I don't care if you like the game, I just was hoping you actually wanted to have your questions answered. They've been answered, you can either accept what the devs have said or not. Do whatever. If you don't like the game stop stalking the discussion board huh? Why stick around to 'discuss' if you don't actually care about discussion. Or you know what, go on the discord and ask in the questions chat, since you require a dev to verbatim answer you're questions to be convinced otherwise.

Not exactly.
"One of the approaches with PvP we wanted to take in Dune was to pull people away from competing and fighting over bases and destroying each other's things," said Bylos, "and instead have them competing over resources in the world at locations."

In one of your earlier posts you also indicated that "outposts" can only be built in pvp areas. Which.. is not at all the case. Nothing will stop PvE players from being able to trade for PvP resources. No reason to scaremonger.

No, they're not. And no, they don't.

Can you give 3 examples of successful open world sandbox PVP games made in the last 3 years?

As i keep saying this is their words not mine, and I'm not going to interpret what they mean, just take them at their word for now.

And you have no idea if anyone is going to trade PvP resources with you or even if you can afford it, that's just more wishful thinking.

spice will be in pvp zones and fought over in world event style
Bases will be off limits to raiding unless the owner ops into allowing it
