Why will they change it? Because PVP sandbox games continually fail over and over again. That's the reason why very few games with that type of game design are still being made.
They are made all the time and many of them succeed.
Games like Rust do not because it requires a gamer to be online 24/7 and not care about other gamers, it's totally ruthless. From everything I read from the Devs about this game it will be just as ruthless.
"I know this is an MMO, but as a Dune lover who likes to only do PvE content, can I completely avoid PvP content?
Absolutely. You can play the game without doing PvP. You don't have to care about it at all. There are spaces in the game that are PvP-marked, but others are marked as like guild peace where there is no combat. All of the social hubs are guild peace areas. Then you have areas that are like partial warfare and then the War of Assassins areas which are full PvP.
We break these spaces up and we tell people when they're entering one, we let them know."
Please mark this discussion as answered before anyone gets the wrong impression. It's very clear that in Dune Awakening you only have to interact with PvP as much as you want to.
Yeah but there's nothing in those areas.
Not exactly.
"One of the approaches with PvP we wanted to take in Dune was to pull people away from competing and fighting over bases and destroying each other's things," said Bylos, "and instead have them competing over resources in the world at locations."

In one of your earlier posts you also indicated that "outposts" can only be built in pvp areas. Which.. is not at all the case. Nothing will stop PvE players from being able to trade for PvP resources. No reason to scaremonger.
No, they're not. And no, they don't.
Can you give 3 examples of successful open world sandbox PVP games made in the last 3 years?
As i keep saying this is their words not mine, and I'm not going to interpret what they mean, just take them at their word for now.
And you have no idea if anyone is going to trade PvP resources with you or even if you can afford it, that's just more wishful thinking.
Bases will be off limits to raiding unless the owner ops into allowing it
