My main concerns about DUNE Awakening

1. Arrakis is boring, if you google the lore of the planet theres almost no life, sandworms, fremen and a few small creatures like mice and stuff
No other giant beasts, no savage natives, beside fremen, there isnt going to be enough to keep us invested in the world, unless they go against the lore, which i dont care about, but some might.
Not to mention, maybe just my opinion, but desert is the most boring biome in games lets be honest.
2. PvP only, from what i can tell this MMO is pvp only, no pve servers, this is a mistake.
Look at any MMO that has both pve and pvp servers and 9 times out of 10 the pve servers have triple the population of the pvp servers, this is because MMOs arent designed for PvP because it requires a lot of balancing which then makes classes boring and all the same.
3. Survival, i personally hate survival, it often replaces story and quests and actual fun, people dont like having their time wasted, if you build a shelter and someone destroys it then what? you're only going to rebuild so many times before you quit.
If you literally need to kill others for water, the game is going to be non stop grief and yes systems will be in place to reduce this, but will they be enough or maybe too much and make pvp pointless and unfun for those who like it.
4. Flying mounts, ruin every mmo they are added to, make the world small and boring and safe, no flying animals to make it risky, enough said.
5. Balancing, there are range and melee options but in a desert with no line of sight cover i will be interested to know how melee stands a chance of killing range people, let alone a group of range people.


Overall i just think they need PvE servers and to announce a new planet within a year and arrakis is empty and boring.

I dont gank or zerg, its a pride thing, i dont recognise it as real pvp, so im unsure what i will be doing in game.

The only thing that you got right there is, that gameplay is king.

We dont have large animals to kill or fill out the world.
The Only people are the fremen and visitors, meaning no humanoid aliens to kill.

Lack of enemy diversion is going to get boring, the MMO players here know this.

There is lots of potential. Hostile Fremen Tribes, Smugglers and other criminals, they could come up with story reasons for all kinds of ...things created in Tleilaxu axolotl tanks being present on the planet, same goes for Ixian Machines and other stuff.
Just dreaming here but there is more than enough stuff that Funcom can use here.

Please take at least 10 minutes googling information to answer your questions

First of all, is NOT PvP only, the map is divided PVE zones and PVP zones, the PVE zones are safe , you don’t need to worry about your base being destroyed or players spawn killing you, the PvP zones get wiped every week with a coriolis storm changing the landscape.

If you watched the trailer you can see that there is a ton of stuff to do, farming, resource gathering, they also talked about testing stations which are similar to dungeons.

Also is completely your own personal opinion if a desert biome is boring, plenty of people likes it, and also, another important mechanic of the game is travel, just like death stranding, figuring out how to move in the desert and traveling is very important and they talked about it how that’s very important, and before you say “but death stranding is boring”
let’s not forget that it sold 5 millions copies.

In regard to the story, there will be plenty of story here, is not a classic survival game where you have no story at all, they have talked about this in their discord server and the exact words of the devs where “it have more story then a survival game” and “we have also a journey system “
of course, don’t expect this to be final fantasy XIV.

Addressing your last point, well my guy, this is called “balancing”, you don’t have to worry too much about it even if as I said before, if you where to take some time to actually investigate you would have an answer.
Personal Shields completely negate any range weapon when activate it, devs literally said that by the end game almost everyone will have personal shields.
And also, who said that you need to carry only melee weapon? That would be very stupid
just like the devs said, “you want to bring them both”
if somebody shoot you, you can just shoot them back.

haha, nothing to kill, in the dune universe :D. I sure hope you give it a try and play as Harkonnen, and that those with their internal and external relationships are lore accurate :D

MMOs arent exactly known for good gameplay. Its usually more is better.

PvE zones are small, housing areas etc maybe, cant remember.

Oh its much worse OP, the Devs on their Discord confirmed that only a fraction of those little critters will be in-game. So Arrakis will be even more boring than you thought.

This game is really just a repainted Rust with elements of Conan.
I mean they already have the sand figured out lol

Even if the planet is barren, you have to think about Fremen seitches, spice cralwers, and depending on when this takes place, Harkonnen influence.
