My main concerns about DUNE Awakening

1. Arrakis is boring, if you google the lore of the planet theres almost no life, sandworms, fremen and a few small creatures like mice and stuff
No other giant beasts, no savage natives, beside fremen, there isnt going to be enough to keep us invested in the world, unless they go against the lore, which i dont care about, but some might.
Not to mention, maybe just my opinion, but desert is the most boring biome in games lets be honest.
2. PvP only, from what i can tell this MMO is pvp only, no pve servers, this is a mistake.
Look at any MMO that has both pve and pvp servers and 9 times out of 10 the pve servers have triple the population of the pvp servers, this is because MMOs arent designed for PvP because it requires a lot of balancing which then makes classes boring and all the same.
3. Survival, i personally hate survival, it often replaces story and quests and actual fun, people dont like having their time wasted, if you build a shelter and someone destroys it then what? you're only going to rebuild so many times before you quit.
If you literally need to kill others for water, the game is going to be non stop grief and yes systems will be in place to reduce this, but will they be enough or maybe too much and make pvp pointless and unfun for those who like it.
4. Flying mounts, ruin every mmo they are added to, make the world small and boring and safe, no flying animals to make it risky, enough said.
5. Balancing, there are range and melee options but in a desert with no line of sight cover i will be interested to know how melee stands a chance of killing range people, let alone a group of range people.


Overall i just think they need PvE servers and to announce a new planet within a year and arrakis is empty and boring.

I dont gank or zerg, its a pride thing, i dont recognise it as real pvp, so im unsure what i will be doing in game.

Your main concerns are the selling points of the game. Not all games are for everyone. I don't like the look of this game either and will give it a miss but you're basically complaining about the premise of the game.

I believe the game will pop off. Dune is an extremely popular series, They have alot they can build onto based on lore that would be really cool. Enough just based on lore and all 6 original books, plus all of the expanded universe to pull from after that. They wouldn't have to necessarily step out of the bounds of lore to add super exciting things, they just need to speed up the timeline through updates to a point slightly after dune, where the planet had creatures, and oasis filled with trees and water and life on the planet. And if this is truly an MMO that will be ever changing that could be one way to do it. Could potentially be a timeline over the games lifespan to reflect the entire timeline of the book series. Say like over a 15 year period we experience all 5000 years of the original dune saga.

The planet is in constant gold rush state. People come in and die in droves, smugglers criminals mercs rebels even fremen immigrated to Dune. That is literally what you play as "Dune newb".

Just pointing out that according to their FAQ there is not forced PVP in this game, but we shall see when the game launches if it holds to that

I also understood that the base is safe space, not sure how OP didn't notice that. They even said that if you like, you can craft all day and sell your stuff on markets. There are designated areas with different rules for PVP.

Dune lore is not just Dune movies, there are plenty of stuff in the books that can happen on Arrakis.

Let the game live or die. If it lives you can hope they add more planets to explore. Arrakis is not the only hostile planet to live on. Salusa Secundus for example is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ planet in the lore too. If they care about the lore and expanding upon the survival element and want to give us more biomes they easily can give us new planets to go to add those biomes.

There is going to be enough to deal with. You have survival. You have to deal with the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ CHOAM. The political system in the game. It just centers around Arrakis.

Although I am also not a fan of PvP either (just turns into zergfests and/or spawn camping from my experience), the issues you have are exactly how the Dune universe is. I could spend time explaining it to you, but it wouldn't matter since you're clearly made up your mind based on "I lOoKeD uP dUnE oN gOoGlE sO i KnOw EvErYtHiNg!!!1!!11"

If it doesn't sound like your cup of tea, then just don't play it. Simple.

The only thing that you got right there is, that gameplay is king.
However: Its Dune, so there is loads of people that give more than two ♥♥♥♥♥ about the lore, be it mechanics, usable gear and basically everything else. Mark my words, we will get tons of discussions about this eventually.
And no, Arrakis isnt empty. But how could you know if you dont care about the lore anyway?

You say you hate pvp survival games, on a forum for a pvp survival game. 9 time out of 10 when they listen you people like yourself, the game flops and dies. Its a base raiding open world survival game and there will be pvp. I think your looking for a different game. And its opinions like this that have the dev's trying to change the religious lore OF DUNE.
