I have been beta testing games before.
None of em ever ask my discord username.
I even check my battle net account and there isnt even option to link ur discord (at least as default).

How many of u wake up in the morning and log in to discord so u can launch ur favor game and play it.
Answer = None.
Because discord is not required to play ur favor games.

So its absolute joke that first thing they ask after ur email is that what is ur discord username.

Not to even mention ppl who dont use discord at all.
All those ppl also left out of beta testing.

Great beta testing, only for pc and only those who own discord account.

The Devs on discord are jerks at best and they really enjoy it when players kiss their butts. This is a popularity contest, not an actual beta test. Don't kiss their butt and you wont get into Beta.

Probably because they know their game is crap so they need die hard DUNE fans who will like whatever is put in front of them.

All studios have their own ways to alpha/beta test.
I've been in a few closed tests myself over the years for different studios, and closed tests tend to differentiate between studios.

It's beta testing, they can set any terms they want.
I think it's kind of clever if they want more personal feedback.

This goes way bk when it comes to beta testing, before Steam signing up for newsletters on the same E-mail gave you way better odds for reciving a beta key early for any game.

ive tested games for many devs. Riot, for one, forces you to travel to a location to playtest their games. Blizzard may not make you use discord or travel. Funcom, prefers to use discord for easy communication and feedback. Not wanting to use discord is like not wanting to get a cell phone and sticking with a landline.
Stop being barbaric. Discord is the future, it has eclipsed slack, teams, skype, etc. Get with the program or become dusty, old, and forgotten.

Everything a website can do, discord can do better. It also invites cooperation and community feedback in better ways than online forums do as well. To not use discord to test a video game is honestly a massive drawback. The power it has to make your game better is wild. To write off a game because it doesn't use one of the most powerful community inclusive features of the industry is insane to me, I do not know how you guys think.
