Why Is It So Hard to Understand the Difference Between PvP and Toxicity
It’s wild how often people confuse PvP with being toxic. Let me make this clear: engaging in PvP when someone doesn’t want to doesn’t automatically make you toxic. PvP is a core part of many games, and everyone has the right to play the game as it’s intended.

What makes a player toxic isn’t that they engage in PvP—it’s how they act during and after it. Toxicity comes from going out of your way to harass, trash-talk, or ruin someone’s experience in ways beyond just playing the game.

This misunderstanding seems especially common in this community—maybe because we’re pirates? Just because someone doesn’t want to PvP doesn’t mean fighting them is toxic. It’s part of the game. What matters is your attitude and behaviour while doing it.

TL;DR: Engaging in PvP in a PvPvE game, even against new or unwilling players, is part of the game and not toxic by itself. Toxicity comes from being disrespectful, like mocking or harassing others. PvP is just playing the game; being toxic is about being a jerk.

Toxicity seem to be how people easily describes a situation that doesn't favors them.

Chasing someone off the map for hours is toxicity.
Spawncamping is toxicity.
Sinking your allies is toxicity.
Deliberately camping tall tale locations and not letting people complete them is toxicity.

- Chasing anyone isnt. the more you run, the more convinced the chaser is to think you have tons of loot
- depends on the spawncamping
- nothing wrong with betraying alliances
- no one is deliberately camping tall tale locations. plus you can complete tall tales on safer seas

How many topics on this subject are you going to create?
We get it, someone backstabbed you and stole your stuff.

Get over it.

Alright not letting you win is toxicity.

I seen you saying things like this in the other thread, you need to remove that word from your life, you'll learn to have fun in pvp games. Or maybe stop playing pvp games, people in those games are always looking for the best and easiest way to beat other players and that might be "unfun" or "toxic" for the others.

None of the things I mentioned are "engaging in PvP". Getting attacked by other players for loot is normal, these are just people going to absurd lengths to be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for no reason

Don't want to get chased, turn and fight.

Scuttle.

Ally only with people you trust.

Play Safer Seas.

You see? All your problems have solutions, but you'd rather get upset over a game.

With this logic, once someone unlocked everything and lost the interest in stealing loot, and they decide to just dedicate their time to fight other users because money does nothing for them anymore, then their actions become toxic?

I think this person is just trying to farm clown awards or just trolling.

The reason for that is because toxicity isn't binary, there are levels to it and some people have more or less tolerance towards it than others.

Some people don't mind being in a toxic relationship either, usually because they are toxic themselves or because they have built tolerance and trauma bonded with the idea.

I mean, you can even notice this behavior mirrored around this game's forum, how quick many are to attack and be disrepectful towards others simply for having a different opinion than theirs.
