Names not showing up correctly

So whenever I play with my friends and join their game, none of the names seem to be correct.
Examples:

• The name of their ship isn't the one they picked, it's a generic one and changes now and again.
  
• Their pets are all the species name, not the animal's nickname it was given
  
• Their Guild name is some generic one that keeps changing also, instead of its given name

I'm not sure what the deal is... I've looked some stuff up online and turned my HUD settings on and off a couples time, even verified the files, I'm not sure what else to do.
